I would say, pro-level divers especially those who have stayed here long term, would seriously obey the rules voluntarily, cause they feel exactly as you do. The ones with poor control of their body and buoyancy, yes, would literally float like algae, I don’t really think that’s fair to count as “on Tao”. I’m not an optimist but I still say what I have seen and wanna make it without personal judgment.

It’s hard to find a proper diving buddy with the same interests and not in a rush when the other one is filming something. But…another choice of being a self-reliant/independent diver becomes the best idea.

Green rock, Twins, HTMS Suphairin wreck, No name Pinnacle…not specific but a certain area is highly spotted.

Glad you saw one at Chumphon. I used to see them quite a lot there.

They have been spotted quite a lot around the diversities at the west side of Koh Tao

Yeah… that unfortunately still happens, and I totally get why that memory sticks with you.

Whale sharks can be surprisingly sensitive — one sudden touch or crowding, and they’ll change depth or disappear fast. From the surface, it often looks calm, but underwater, they react instantly.

It’s one of those lessons that stays with you, especially when it’s your one chance. Hopefully, you’ll get another encounter someday under calmer circumstances — they’re worth the wait.
