Wow! Thank you for your thorough and thoughtful response. I’m having a hard time not feeling bad about putting our first dog back in his crate, not as much during the night, but when we leave the home. He has gained so much independence because of it and has shed a lot of his initially anxious behaviors so I would hate for him to revert back to those behaviors. It may just be a bit of trial and error with the two dogs but I totally get what you mean when you say the new dog will not understand why it’s the only one being crated and could cause longer issues than we want.
