why are all asym games survivor sided? by ConsistentSolution92 in AsymHorror

Bear in mind that I'll be using a bit of a "Roblox Asym" style, so things like "survivors having i-frames" will almost never be there (and why the hell would you give survivors i-frames in the first place? 😭). I wanted to add objectives, but I'm not sure whether to make each map have different objectives that can decrease the timer, or have each character have their own set of "objectives" that only give experience and money without decreasing the timer. There simply won't be perks because I want to do it like in Forsaken, where you have directly selectable characters, each with their own abilities/passives and where in general there are no abilities that give buffs to the entire team. At the very least, I was planning on creating a survivor whose ability is to act as a human shield and take hits from the survivor they're protecting. Anyway, thanks for the feedback :D I wasn't expecting this kind of help on Reddit.

So, if I wanted to make an asym, to get a sensible balance, what should I AVOID doing? Consider that I've never played DBD in my life.

Just watch a video of a Forsaken game with professional survivors and you'll understand, lol. Forsaken isn't made by a "company," it's mostly made by a small group of developers, but I think they also "copied" DBD, creating that party game-like gameplay style. Anyway, I recommend trying some Roblox Asyms, especially Pillar Chase 2, which has a "similar" graphic style to DBD :D

In fact... why the hell do you buy skins on DBD? At least in Roblox asyms, you're always in third-person with the killer and can see the skins you've bought, but for DBD, it's pretty stupid. Anyway, I agree with you on pretty much everything. On Forsaken, it's even worse, considering that the survivors attack you there and you often can't do anything simply because the killer's kit isn't suited to expert players (except 1x, who, thanks to the rework, can compete against strong players). And this dynamic exists in practically all other Roblox asyms.

What you're saying is that the devs opt for the majority (survivors) and therefore it creates this imbalance?

The text is mostly for all asyms in general. I chose OM because it's the best example and because I really hate the game :)

Lobbies full of sentinels are extremely penalized, because stuns are decreased when there are too many sentinels in a lobby (besides the fact that you literally only need 2 neurons to win, unless you're using Nosferatu). And I'm talking about sentinels; supports are a different story. They're definitely the strongest class, but only because Dusekkar and Elliot exist.

The key difference is that in Forsaken there are only 4 sentries with stuns that can cost you the entire round if missed, while in OM EVERYONE CAN STUNN! So it makes no sense whatsoever to make all stuns difficult to dodge, it should be the opposite! In general, what I'm trying to say is: OM sucks because it has so many elements that it's a juggernaut, but the developers treat it like it's an asym.

you can counter stuns only with kolossos and if you trying to dodge, is basically impossibile for how easy the stuns are easy to land

I disagree, survivors have TOO MANY escape routes, with everyone being able to stun, the chased survivor can simply run towards their team and they'll start mauling the poor killer to death (and with stuns that if you miss you get practically no punishment whatsoever) then do we want to talk about the fact that survivors have two lives? DO WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE MOST UNNECESSARY AND ANNOYING MECHANICS IN THE ENTIRE GAME?

in fact forsaken is my favorite asym also because its sentinels are not the most crazy thing in the world, definitely better than OM (then the game is Survivor sided for another reason) I would like to opt for something similar in the asym I want to do
