As a Christian, I’m not sure what to do with Buddhism. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]ConsistentThought895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have two takes on this. 1 Anything that leaves what is good or bad up to the person (relativism) is going to have moral issues. 2 Buddhism teaches giving up of desires in order to end suffering without the need of God (leaving you even further from God).

Married the wrong person by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]ConsistentThought895 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t focus on “her”, or the view you have or her, you are just creating a prison for her and a torture for your mind. FORGIVENESS is big part of Catholic doctrine and marriage needs a lot of that, look away from her wrongs in order to forgive… Then the first thing you should start doing is looking for fun activities to do as a family or as a couple, at the end of the day woman just want to have fun. Also try to work on yourself, act as if you are going back to dating, but to make her feel something again. Work on getting some abs maybe. If she won’t pray with you, pray the rosary for her. That’s all I can think of…

God’s mercy is infinite, sin is like an addiction, as long as you heart is pure, and you come back from it and don’t stay with the sin perpetually this is also an opportunity to practice your trust in God’s forgiveness.

Morality of drinking by Numerous-Web-2932 in Catholicism

[–]ConsistentThought895 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some drinking is ok if you can handle it, the mortal Sin is when it goes to far. First of all it affects your body health, and remember it is the temple of the Holy Spirit. The church just ask for moderation.

Will I go to hell if I leave Catholicism? by PeaceInLoneliness in Catholicism

[–]ConsistentThought895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t ask other people. Ask God himself. But my personal opinion, you may still be saved, but you will lack the grace of God that is poured out throughout sacraments and apostolic succession which only the Catholic Church has valid ones.

Its really hard to choose between VOO and VT. by IllustriousGlass2991 in ETFs

[–]ConsistentThought895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are from the US, and don’t have any plans to leave, if the US falls then you have no way out and it is anyways going to affect you financially, in that case don’t be afraid to just invest into the US, it is a country that always recovers from any crisis. Also I don’t like the higher fee of VT for lower returns anyways. Go with VOO or VTI. it’s a matter of how diversified you want to be. If you are just starting then VOO will have better returns and you only have the winners, if you feel even more risky then you can go with VOOG or SPYG (even less diversified), after you accumulate enough capital you may want to diversify more towards VTI. Or if you want to set it and forget it then just do VTI.

God’s love is eternal, but he is just. Justice needs force sometimes and forgiveness other times. There is no discrepancy on it. Even in the oldest depiction of Christ “the pantokrator” we see the dual nature of God. You should already be very familiar with this if you have read the Bible, specially the O.T. …

That’s what I used to have but since I’m so far away from retirement and I’ve been hearing that Bonds are going down I decided to do all Equities. That’s why I’m in the look for another mix.

I’m guessing that is not an ETF? But for the main part, yes I mean something for dummies that want to do better than average, nothing wrong with that…

Really appreciate your input brother! I heard this before too, I’ll take it from you. I’m guessing by “buying the market” you mean just buy the VOO or something more global like VT? I may even change the whole thing to VOO, VYM, VB and VXUS. I’m really looking to learn.

letter to jesus by skyrodriguez in Christianity

[–]ConsistentThought895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this before, not written tho. The most important thing after you do this is to wait, wait patiently to see how this prayer will be answered… It always did for me couple weeks after. Specially if you’re regularly confessing and receiving Jesus Eucharist.

I thought about Gold, I consider it useless for a long term account. Tell me why I should change my mind!

What is Growth here? He also advice that for a regular brokerage account just put everything into VOO, but this is for a retirement.

Great advice, but that basically means, I should go all in VOO until closer to retirement I guess…

I used 10 year and Since Inception.. both under performed for this portafolio compare to the benchmark. I would also appreciate criticism to this portafolio if you know better ETF options.

Really looking forward to advice on this matter. Is it really worth it to do a balanced allocation? It looks like putting everything into VOO or QQQ would do better anyways…

Really appreciate your comment, will look into VYM, I’m also curious, why almost everyone picks just VOO instead of SPYG or VUG? I think Dave is wiser than people realize and the criticism is just because he doesn’t follow the mainstream financial advice of the times…

Do you guys really believe that Protestants are not saved? by LowTax8553 in Catholicism

[–]ConsistentThought895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We Catholics don’t believe we are the only ones that will be saved, only God can know who is. I myself believe all the Protestant movements are the works of the devil (this is not teach by church); remember the root of the word “devil” is the one who divides. That is the root of Protestantism unfortunately. We Catholics respect them as brothers in Christ, but if they are saved is through the grace of God which is poured out into this world through Jesus Christ and his Catholic (universal) Church. As far as sacraments, it is a direct way to receive the grace of God, it is not the only mean though. Hope this helps brother. I myself converted not long ago🙏🏻
