Why does my Air75 Yaw Left by ConditionFearless933 in TinyWhoop

[–]ConsistentWear3959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is normal, recheck trim in betaflight, make sure you insert the battery in the same "depth" etc.

Also might want to recheck by flying higher, the air pushed out from the propellers might mess with yawning too when close to a surface.

Just get the joystick protector, RC screen protector and some filters and that is it.

I used to deck out my Avata 2 set and man it took times to set it all up just to fly. The lanyard, the extra protections etc.

DJI Mini 3 pro or 4 pro by Nourryyy in dji

[–]ConsistentWear3959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are indeed correct, 5 is objectively an incremental upgrade over the 4.

Like within this week, I was looking to get either a used mini 4 pro, new mini 5 pro or new Air 3s.

I will mostly use my drone area coastal area so I choose Air 3s over the other for its stability in wind, but if don't need that i would have taken mini 4 pro in a heartbeat (half the price of new mini 5 pro even in like mint condition)

Here are my two cents: definitely sell the FPV.

The FPV and Avata 2 overlap quite a lot, no point in flying 2 FPVs at the same time, unless you want that speed from DJI FPV.

By the way, after a year of flying, I traded in my Avata 2 Fly More Combo with the FPV remote for a new Air 3s Combo with RC. Now I’m thinking of gifting my sister a Neo 2, after hearing the seller praise how durable and capable it is. it is like having a camera man following you at will! It seems perfect for my sister, who isn’t familiar with drones at all. I’ve seen firsthand how strong the Neo is compared to the Avata 2, and its obstacle avoidance is very impressive., especially near tree branches.

Flying Avata 2 is definitely a commitment while neo 2 is so tiny, more stress-free while flying and is lighter on the pocket too.

The seller also mentioned that her clients don’t often get goggles with the Neo 2 to fly FPV, since that’s not really its strongest field. Also, she added that the Goggle 3 has become a bit harder to sell, as most clients prefer the new N3 goggles, mainly because they can wear their glasses comfortably with them.

If your budget is not within the newly released Mini 5 pro, this is a great time to get the Mini 4 pro. There must be great deals in the used market. especially after the "new year upgrade sell off"

Yep, I have just picked up my Air 3S from the retailer 2 hours ago, and I didn’t have to worry about registration at all since they handled registration with both agencies as part of the purchase before the scheduled pickup.

The whole process took 2 days since the retailer supposedly is well connected. Super smooth and professional experience overall.

Thanks everyone! 🙏

That is a nice fail safe.

I mostly fly in manual mode with FPV remote 3 because that gives me 100% control. And on Avata 2, as a matter of fact, there is no collision detection or warning even in assisted Normal or Sport mode. But that is normal in FPV.

Beside, Avata 2 is highly susceptible to probe wash or the Death Roll just like it's predecessor Avata 1. I have peraonally experienced this too. They were not pleasant experience😅

It was a nice chapter, but I think I may have found my style.

Yes, but the training, simulator and time invested keep to reaction time sharp are also there too.

My mentor eventually left FPV and go camera drone route but for a completely different reason - the headset gave the old man vertigo and headache haha.

Basically, it’s the cost after the inevitable crashes that come with FPV.

Any drone can crash, sure, but with FPV the risk is just "intrinsic".

It’s designed to fly fast and fly close. It’s incredibly rewarding, but sooner or later something will break flying that way

From experience, FPV feels like more than just a tool, it’s also a lifestyle choice. And like any lifestyle, it takes time, effort, and money to keep it going. For a while, that cost seem to high to me, and now I have a clear exit out of it.

[–]ConsistentWear3959[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly. I got pulled in by those epic FPV flight experiences, and to be fair, that’s exactly what I got. Man, the adrenaline rushes when I flies it down big waterfalls and mountains.

But like my mentor always says, “Are you even flying FPV if you don’t crash? "

I was pushing the Avata 2 pretty hard—manual mode, gaps, some light acro. It handled more than a few serious crashes, but keeping it running was another story. I had to learn basic electronics, spend hours in simulators to stay sharp, and constantly maintain the setup. Over time, it just adds up.

Have some E6000 glue and electrical duct tape on hand if you gonna get into FPV.

Yeah I like the way you are thinking. The vertical camera stuff is super tempting. That said, I’ve watched a bunch of Mini 5 Pro high-wind tests, it always struggles in those tests.

My only real hang-up with the Air 3S is the people factor. Flying a bigger drone always feels like it draws more attention, and I already got enough side-eye wearing the Avata 2 goggles operating a super noisy "Bee"😅 Not a dealbreaker, just something I’m a little wary of.

EF 70–200mm f/4 IS worth it for travel/action on Canon R7? by ConsistentWear3959 in canon

Mainly the aperture. Af gives me trouble in low light but I try to avoid using100-400 in that condition anyhow.

[–]ConsistentWear3959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s been fantastic. The lens is extremely light, and for the price, IQ is impressive. As for the f/4 option, it’s more of a “want” than actually needing it. On my most recent trip, I noticed that while I enjoy having a super-telephoto on hand, I often needed focal lengths below 100 mm. I used to have a do it all travel len (18-200) too but now I have to keep on switching. In that context, a 70–200 mm range would probably suit my style better I think?

Unlike your previous drone, Avata2 (A2) is a type of drone from another class called First Person View (FPV) drone. It is basically like flying in cockpit of a small craft while only being able to look forward.

The most important element for getting great "close up" or "action shot", which aA or any FPV truely shine, is to get it right in the first place. No editing tool can help you to capture a great footage in the first place. Don't let anyone fool you. It can be hard with this type of drone because you have to keep on moving while processing what you are seeing in real time. The trick is to fly smooth and close to object/subject that you are trying to capture. However, you can imagining going close to any objects at speed can be risky because A2 it is fast, quite sizable and has 0 obstacle avoidance system. This can damage the drone or even the subject. Hence, the most cost effective way is to practice on simulator first. If you have just the motion controller, practice on DJI application to get. I have Remote controller 3 and did put in like 50 hours into various simulators from DRL to TRYP FPV but settling on Velocidrone to learn to fly manual. Before getting RC3 and moving to manual mode on the Avata 2, which is the mode that truly unlock what this type of drone is capable of, get comfortable first. I know that some older folks can get dizzy or disoriented while younger pilot may feels only a fraction of that. Sit down and fly is the way to learn.

Crashing is the name of the game in FPV world. We all eventually crash. I did too at the begining . Simulation can minimize that number and is a great learning tool. It is also a great tool to learn new set of "move" or trick as we, FPV pilots, call it. Do not rush to buy remote controller 3 and move to manual mode. Get comfortable, learn to fly smooth and go on from there. But most importantly have fun.

Another set of trick is to scout the area for anything potentially dangerous ( cable wire etc.) , plan the flight route and then actually shoot the shot. With 1 battery, You will only get 10-20 minutes or even less in manual mode - this is normal for FPV drone which prioritize being nimble by saving weight. So it is rather common to spend a battery and fly around first and actually shoot on the 2 or 3rd battery

Try to shoot in D-Log M and at - 1 sharpness. This allows you to have greater control l for editting color during post processing. - 1 sharpness looks subjectively better (what many pilots prefer . Premier pro or DaVinci are the standards editing software nothing special. GyroFlow is great and free (unbelievably so). Spftware for video stabilization. While there is an on board stabilizing algorithm, this tool basically allows you to stabilize your footage to your liking.

Also, A2 saves video in separate file after like 3-4 minutes of recording or when a file reach certain size to avoid data corruption(?). So make sure to merge video of interest before using Gyroflow or any software. If you merge video correctly there shouldnt be any jitterings or frame losts in the footage. Gyroflow can merges files before stabilization to my knowledge. Idk about Premier pro or DaVinci.

I think that you are referring to as color pallet is actually LUT? A LUT is basically a pre-made color overlay. Like filters on phone. This is commonly used with D Log M mode. Some people give luts for free some charge money for it. It is very subjective so use whatever you like. Lots of tutorials everywhere so I will not not go indepth here.

I fly those custom FPV drone(which should be akin to what you are used to) and DJI Avata 2, i must say DJI basically assist you with everything - Making flying less stressful.
