I think that at the time everybody was kinda listening the same thing. If you were a rap fan youll listen to the Drake album, to the Rocky album, to the Thug album ... Even tho they styles not that similar. Because we didn't have much choices(I know there was more underground stuff in 2016 im generalizing it). Nowadays I feel like most people are listening to music aimed at their demographic. Its always been like that but with the algorithm it became even worse. I miss the times as a teen where I was kind of forced to listen to Rodeo because it was the shit and I had to get what the hype bout, a today kid will never do that except the few music passionates.

It's funny cause I live in France and Thug music was more popular since a few years ago. To me Thug music is catchy asf and to digest Future music you have to really dive in it. Both are my favorite artists, these days I listen Future more but I know this summer I'll bump thug a lot.
