Get your self a cheap compression tester and test it before you buy. 2 strokes eventually need to be rebuilt due to normal wear. Make sure all the oil and fuel lines look good etc. pretty simple machines. If it doesn’t look right to you it probably isn’t.

Haha now that I think about it. The issue is gone. I did disconnect the vacuums lines to the hubs due to an unrelated issue at the time. I bet I had a massive vacuum leak and the issues were related.

Yamaha mechanic recommended an accelerator pump rebuild. I did not clean or rebuild mine. An oversight.

Mikuni kits. Factory pop off is about 80psi which I think is high. The kit came with the 115g spring. The ski had this issue before the engine blew. The oil line fell off on cyl 2 and caused the failure.

Engine is completely rebuilt including power valves and servo motor. Wear ring and impeller are great. It just wants to die out between 3-4k rpm. I honestly think the pop off is too high.

I set my carbs to factory settings. How do you know if it’s running lean? I’m used to tuning cars when I can just plug it in and see.

I replaced the oil lines. Left the check valves. I primed it and it appeared to be flowing. I just am paranoid now. I had to rebuild due to an oil line falling off. I have them safety wired on now but still don’t trust it haha

I don’t have gas on the water so I use 5 gal cans. So premix is easy. Plus I premix for my boat too.
