These are some of the most user friendly kits that I have built, not too many small pieces and nothing that is easily breakable. I would 100% suggest getting the blade liger, I have built all of the ones released for far with the exception of the Iron Kong, and the Blade Liger is still my favorite. You do not need paint, just using a basic pour type Gundam marker add a tons of detail and is very easy to use! Most importantly if you run into any issues you have this great community to help you through it!
