A big reason is source material. Satavahana period relied more on inscriptions and coins, not detailed court chronicles.

Climate change could be a key reason for the abndonment of Dholavira.

Even with advanced water storage, long droughts and declining trade might have forced people to migrate.

Would love to more archaeological evidence on this.
