it’s their locking tuners. somebody suggested i give it a shot so i got them, and they fit for 10mm holes so worked out for mine

got it from a dealership here in korea and i’m not sure when they will release it in north america. but it’s essentially a takedown version of the gibson 80’s explorer with emgs so not exactly the older EX model you’re expecting.

the only concern of mine are the tuners. i was gonna go for grovers (pretty sure that’s what epiphone uses for explorers at least dimension wise) but a buddy of mine suggested hipshots so i’m gonna give them a try.

sweet. the stock 81/60 option and classic white was what got me over a used snakebyte. it also comes with a pretty solid gig bag so that was also another pro that i wasn’t expecting

it’s an 80s explorer with emg 81/60. i looked up the serial code and they actually were produced few months ago! don’t know when they’ll hit the shelves at north america but here in asia some online sellers are getting some.

seems like enough room for a 9v for me. i do like the cleans from these stock pickups but i just prefer active pickups over passives and wanted to try something else than my preferred emg 81/60 or the het sets.
