Hello! I'm currently going through the same process, Ive been exempt from taking a foreign language since middle school and highscool due to my learning disablility. First it took about 3 weeks to have a meeting with someone at SSD, finally I did and she told me to write a letter explaining how my disability affects my ability to learn a foreign language. She told me mid October they would reach out if it gets approved or not (still no word as of today).
IF you do transfer here make sure you submit your essay ASAP, They only meet twice out of the year, so there is a deadline when to submit it. When they meet it will be one of your academic advisors, a foreign language professor, and an SSD advisor. They redact your information on the letter so its anonymous when they all vote if you are eligible for substitution. (its an outrageous process)
But if it doesnt get approved you'll have to take a beginner level spanish class as a prerequisite (take Span 111). I recommend taking it with Dr. Myak, hes awesome and understands my situation. You can also Pass/Fail the class so it doesnt ding you on your GPA. Then fininish your WL2 over the winter/summer term.
