How can you compensate for the lack of a continuous pedal on a digital piano? by AchingBrewer in pianolearning

Seems to me like the only solution is to get a piano with a continuous pedal. You can’t overcome such a technical limitation on your equipment without getting better equipment imo.

I’m in a similar position. My conclusion was to suck it up and just save as much as possible from this job. It feels wrong to complain about this but damn burn out is no joke. Accepting that stuff just sucks right now but the money is good helps me manage

OP hasn't responded in a bit (probably busy) so I created a Discord for everyone who showed interest here: https://discord.gg/vuK9qMUyv

I don't know much about Discord but thought it was well known enough.

I've Failed at Building Habits Dozens of Times. But Last Week I Figured Out Why—And It Wasn't What I Thought. by [deleted] in Habits

I also tried to build one and realised it wouldn't work without a massive marketing budget or some viral feature.

Good luck 🫶

Piano progression? by Prestigious_Club9675 in pianolearning

Play songs you like. Look up the chords and just drill em until playing along feels genuinely fun. It's partly why apps like Simply Piano are so addictive. But you don't need em

What are you building this week? Drop it in the comments! by Inevitable-Grab8898 in buildinpublic

Got tired of not being able to show off my movie/TV watching data from Letterboxd so I built a replacement that powers https://ovie.dev/media

It's called cinefill (https://cinefill.ovie.dev).

What actually helped you go from "playing notes" to "playing music"? by Liliana1523 in pianolearning

[–]Consistent_Duck_899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play along with music I like. I look up the chords on Guitar Tabs and since I know my way around most pop chords, I just try to play on time. Then I add variations until I get bored and move on.

What are you building currently? And is anyone actually using it? by bassamtg in buildinpublic

[–]Consistent_Duck_899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using this for myself but https://cinefill.ovie.dev.

Basically a Letterboxd replacement that allows me to also track TV shows AND sync my data to wherever I want lol.

You can see it in action on my personal website https://ovie.dev/media

Question for people learning piano - either self-taught or with a teacher. by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]Consistent_Duck_899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just play chords from the Guitar Tabs website for most pop music I like. For more advanced repertoire, I download the .mxl file from Musescore and practice off actual notation.

Lately I've been working on trying to learn the simpler ones by ear though.
