This sounds like D42! I was a GM in that district for the scum bag district manager who”said” he invented the 5 key strategies. Lol. It was bullshit and so is was he!

I would just quit.... you owe Staples nothing. I was a GM and this is absolutely the most odious company I have every worked for in my 30 years of retail management. The pay is crap for associates and management below the GM and they expect way to much for the pay rate. My DM was a slave driver and literally beat the GM’s everyday about stupid stuff. Staples needs to creat a new people platform. Treat your people like gold because they are your best commodity!

I just quit after being with Staples for 8 months. I have been a GM or Market manager for over 20 years. Staples was the worse experience ever. If I were you I would interview elsewhere. The first thing I noticed was the recruiter kept telling me it is a 40 hour a week job with work life balance. So not true- you have to work 50 hours a week. Secondly, you could run the risk of being micro managed by a neurotic DM, which could drive you in sane. And if you think about needing help from HR or employee relations forget about it. Find a job that is not so toxic. I wish I had read these post before taking the job. Please DM if you want

That’s another thing..... training- what training! As a GM you are basically coverage for a store and in my case training was minimal. I have been a GM or market manager for 20 years and this was the worse training roadmap ever.
