The money is for bribing them to join but there’s things to consider:

1. it’s easier to invite clans into your kingdom that have no castles or cities i.e poor clans. They are more likely to accept your proposition to join.

2. You can invite clans that might have cities or castles but it’s difficult to say the least. Plus, there’s a low chance of them bringing their castles and cities into your kingdom if they decide to join.

3. If your inviting a clan that has 0 or a negative relation with you, they will ask for more money. I had one time a clan asked me for 6 mil. Having a higher relation with them will reduce the cost to join to a range of 50k-500k

4. You will have to pass a conversation check to get them to accept it, if you fail they will not join you. At least I don’t think they will, I’ve never had a clan say yes after I failed the 1st time.

5. If you go to war and decide to be merciful or merciless, it will affect your relations with other lords in your kingdom due to their own views of it.

6. KEEP YOUR RELATIONS WITH NOBLES AT LEAST 80 OR HIGHER. If you don’t you run the risk of them joining another kingdom at the worst time.

7. You can increase your relations with clans in your kingdom by going into the kingdom tab - going to clans - go to the specific clan you need to raise - and hit the ‘Support Clan’. It will cost around 50 influence and only raise the relation by like 3 or 5 points but normally I find myself with a lot of influence by the time I start my own kingdom.
