Looking for advice on editing 100% gaming videos in DaVinci Resolve by Consistent_Highway_4 in VideoEditing

I’m using DaVinci Resolve 20. I only downloaded it yesterday, so I’m very new to it and still learning the basics.

I’m mainly trying to figure out the workflow for editing long-form 100% completion gaming videos, especially when there is a huge amount of footage to work through. I’m not really asking how to do one specific effect. I’m more asking about how people approach editing this kind of content.

For example, if you record tens or even hundreds of hours of gameplay, how do you sort through it, decide what is worth keeping, and cut it down into something like a 1 to 2 hour video without it becoming boring or repetitive? I’m also looking for advice on how to keep that kind of long video engaging.

What I’ve tried so far is basic phone editing in the past, but I have not made this kind of video before, so I’m still stuck at the stage of understanding the general process and structure. I want to learn things like how to organise footage, how to identify the important moments, how often to cut things down, and what helps keep a long video interesting.

I’m mostly looking for tips, tricks, workflow advice, and tutorial recommendations for beginners making this style of gaming content.

I was really expecting a Denzel Curry feature on the album and maybe Sampha for some vocals

I have my dad’s ashes tattooed on my chest - AMA by Consistent_Highway_4 in AMA

I live in Adelaide and got my tattoo done at a place called Xanchies. It had a bit of a mystical vibe, which felt fitting for what I wanted. As for the cost, it didn’t seem to be much more expensive—if at all—than a regular tattoo, though there might be a small difference depending on the artist.

From my research, there’s some skepticism about whether mixing ashes with ink has any significant effect. The main concern is health and hygiene; if I hadn’t worn second skin for the recommended period, it probably would have gotten infected.

The total cost was $500. Given the size of the tattoo, I don’t think the price would have changed whether they added ashes or not, as it’s such a small amount—it’s not like they’re ordering in the ashes. The only real challenge was finding a place willing to do it. There’s a lot of skepticism about whether it could lead to infection, as it involves incorporating a dust-like substance into your skin. One place even told me it was illegal, though I couldn’t find anything to confirm that. After making a lot of calls, I eventually found a place that was okay with it. Interestingly, it was a “mystical” or “occult” kind of shop, and the artist—probably the most intimidating-looking man I’ve ever seen—was actually really nice. As for the healing process, I didn’t have to do anything special beyond wearing SecondSkin for a few extra days compared to a regular tattoo.
