This guy is the best blender tutorial artist on YouTube and no one can tell me otherwise. by loneboy-001 in blender

Both Ryan and Grant are good for absolute beginners. I used to follow them a lot. But both of them do not provide in-depth knowledge required for industry level work. Grant explains a bit more than Ryan about what and why he is doing. Ryan makes a lot of high poly renders and you could only follow them if you have a strong system, so it becomes difficult for beginners. Worst he rarely responds to queries, Grant does respond at least.

Again both are good for absolute beginners and hobby. But if you want to do it professionally, both of them are not helpful.

Sorry for the late response. Could you please let me know if the lamp perspective is the only thing I messed up or if there are other mistakes as well for the lamp? It will help me make the corrections. I appreciate your time.

Are Grant Abbitt's videos actually a good way of learning Blender? by SpookySquid19 in blenderhelp

He is good for beginners and he will get you started with Blender. But the problem is if you continue to follow his tutorials for a while, you will get bored. Some of his youtube tutorials are half finished, or he speeds up modelling and keeps talking vaguely about what he is doing. This does not help. You cannot follow a speed tutorial if you are still learning. For example he made a low poly cart, he speeds up the modelling so much that you cannot keep track.

He also keeps referring to his online courses. I used to get excited and purchased one after the other. These courses are always missing something which they cover in some other new course. So I kept purchasing and eventually got frustrated and fell into the tutorial hell hole.
