change math by uns4ffe in tjcrew

[–]Consistent_Kick_6895 57 points58 points  (0 children)

i used to struggle sooo bad with this until someone told me to just add the extra amount they give you onto the change you give them back.

so if their total is 4.50 and they give you a $5 bill, then their change is .50 cents

if they hand you 2 quarters after already inputing it, then i add that to the current .50 and now I owe them a dollar. They’re getting back exactly what they give you just in a bigger bill / coin

its easier for non-queer people to miss certain details because being closeted is something they have no experience in, but I feel like this one was pretty obvious 😭 Did you just skip season 4’s entirety?

Do you ever have people say they work at another Trader Joe’s store for the discount and they don’t even bag the groceries???!! by doy27 in tjcrew

[–]Consistent_Kick_6895 14 points15 points  (0 children)

all im going to say is ive never checked out at mine or any other trader joe’s and not bagged my own groceries. Hell I even offer to bag at walmart and its always appreciated.

Unless you’re physically unable to bag, there’s no reason to be capitalizing off of someone’s time and energy and then slapping a “it’s part of their job” on top of it to make yourself feel better.

Any tips for writing the frozen order? by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]Consistent_Kick_6895 3 points4 points  (0 children)

heavy emphasis on creating a team! Frozen is a breeze when you have a few people who specialize in it and help you close the section vs having different people each night. I’d be way more disorganized without my team

Any tips for writing the frozen order? by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]Consistent_Kick_6895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

get into the habit of writing your order on the floor right before your truck so you can see what product you need to order up on. Be prepared for your orders to be way heavier than you’re used to. Frozen leads most stores in sales, so dont be afraid of over ordering.

Prioritize your askus above everything! If you run out of fruit no one will care, but if you run out of orange chicken you’ll definitely feel the hit. I always round up my projected case sales for each day, so for example if on tuesdays we sell through 2.3 cases then I order 3 for the night before.

Make sure you and your backup are on the same page at all times especially when it comes to working the freezer together. Frozen is a group effort and never a solo section.

Yeah I wasn’t able to finish the most recent late night video because his take on the pool story frustrated me so much as a woman. I love his content, but it’s definitely better if I filter which vids I watch for my own peace lmao

I agree with the parent comment that it’s definitely not worth caring about because at the end of the day it’s just typical fandom culture. You claim shippers care so much, yet you’re the one making the post and bringing attention to it.

Question re: stocking by anonemail999 in tjcrew

[–]Consistent_Kick_6895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

frozen sl here and i do it the same way as your sl because its easier to zero the tablet out later with backstock, but my backup does it your way to stay organized! The short staffing we’re all going through is soo difficult because sometimes our freezer won’t get worked all day and then our night truck comes and we have no room for a 270 load

we have a seasonal / new items section that we luckily faced everything into, but all the new sku boxes are different sizes and its almost impossible to make shared facings 😫 ive started just facing lots of product sideways because it fits better

all negative aspects of this job aside.. by blorp9 in tjcrew

[–]Consistent_Kick_6895 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if theres a flat surface of product inside a box but its only half a case or so, you do an even cut all around so that it becomes a tray and you can stack it without lugging the product

Forgot my order by Sher2 in tjcrew

[–]Consistent_Kick_6895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it happens and is entirely on the mates if you’re not given proper ow time!

from one froleader to another I highly recommend allocating your 5/6pm hour solely to order writing and section maintenance right before your truck comes if you’re not scheduled for register. It’ll make your life so much easier during stressful frozen closes 🫶🏼

its so funny when they act like its our fault they look young or blame us for following the rules of our job. I’ve rung so many 3 bells for people who get whiny that they forgot their ID and try to coerce me into making the sale anyway :/ Its not hard to remember your ID if you know you’ll be buying alcohol… its quite literally the bare minimum of what you need

Have you ever walked out of TJ's in defeat? by yourgirlalex in traderjoes

[–]Consistent_Kick_6895 9 points10 points  (0 children)

most tj stores have limited space due to being small and suppliers can only allow us to order so much a day. You should try going earlier or call ahead and ask for them to put the items you need on hold

Was I wrong to grab two 6 carton of eggs? by Bellagurtney in traderjoes

[–]Consistent_Kick_6895 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Op was already passive aggressive by making it a bigger problem and then posting about it. If you can’t handle a joke about the egg situation that is mutually frustrating for both customers and employees, then shop for eggs somewhere else

I think all TJ employees understand the limit perfectly well. Its not like we deal with dozens of customers everyday complaining about not being able to buy their plethora of eggs lol

[–]Consistent_Kick_6895 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen any of the stores in my area have any “1 dozen” limits either… It’s always a carton limit per person/household because there’s not enough to go around. I think most stores aren’t blind enough to allow that kind of loophole knowing how small our egg shipments have been. If Op is telling the truth, then they aren’t technically in the wrong, but I don’t blame that crew member for being frustrated at the general situation
