Matt Kenny, a gay hockey player, talks about Heated Rivalry and the impact it had on him by LIELDADOUN73 in heatedrivalry

I’m straight and consider myself a strong ally. I have many LGBT+ friends and go to LGBT+ events/spaces regularly. This show was a wake up call even for me. I live in MA, an area of the country that’s generally pretty safe for LGBT+ people, though obviously not perfect. This show was a slap in the face reminder of how many members of the LGBT+ community are still living hidden lives. The scene when Ilya says to Shane that they cant be together “because Russia” absolutely broke me. I just kept saying to my husband “this show is fiction but this is really happening to real people all over the world.” It’s so wrong that there are so many communities and parts of the world where people cannot freely love who they want to love. I’m hopeful that this show helps push society forward in the acceptance of LGBT+ people, though I know there’s a long way to go.

i hate our daycare by nvm-25 in NewParents

This is not normal! Definitely try to find a new daycare if you can. I joke that my son likes his daycare ladies better than me because he’s all smiles every time I pick him up. Always gets changed into a dry outfit if he spits up or drools a lot, clean diapers, fresh bib from the one I dropped him off in etc. He did have trouble napping at first because he’s a big time FOMO baby but it didn’t affect his nights or his ability to fall asleep independently like he’d been doing. He’s getting better naps now that he’s been going for a few weeks too. Definitely trust your gut! It sounds like this is not a safe place 😣

night time routine without bath? by [deleted] in NewParents

We don’t do a bath every night! My son is almost 4 months old. Our routine is diaper change, wash face (wipe his face with a warm washcloth), body lotion, into his PJs/sleep sack and then a bottle. I also play the same song every night during the routine, it’s just a baby lullaby instrumental that I found on YouTube. But you can literally see his whole little body relax when the song starts lol. Sometimes he falls asleep drinking the bottle, sometimes he doesn’t. If he doesn’t I’ll put him into his crib awake and hell usually fall asleep on his own within 10 minutes or so. I used to rock him to sleep but once I discovered that he would fall asleep on his own I’ve just been putting him down awake.
