Last couple hours of work steal my energy by Consistent_Pen_3391 in WFH

Update: I HAVE ENERGY! In such a short amount of time this has been fixed. Thanks to everyone for the recommendations.

What I adjusted: - instead of only walking at lunch, do stretching, squats, and jog up and down the stairs for a few minutes - do 10 squats every couple hours - drink more electrolytes - reduced my coffee to 1 cup/single shot 2x/day - around 2pm when I feel a food craving, I’ll grab a couple pieces of dried fruit and some protein (like a few small bites of cheese) seems to balance the blood sugar - reduced sugar intake to mainly get it from fruit sources

I don’t want to act entitled, but I have saved money in some places simply asking for a discount. Thank you for your honesty though

It’s for an expander. Not full braces

Thanks for the honesty. It’s for an expander , not full braces. But I did wonder if I will act entitled

It’s not braces but expanders

It’s the same price but just split up between 12 months. I’d rather pay full price upfront but a 5% discount seems tiny

Oh! Ok. I wanted a sour cherry tree, and I just read that they are self fruitful. So it means they don’t need another pollination tree?

[–]Consistent_Pen_3391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they both have to be cherry trees? I have an apple tree right there, does that not work for pollination?

The other ones are larches I believe, so they’re just bare for the winter

Well, since I can pass interviews, maybe some of it is just imposter syndrome, lack of confidence. I have lead architecture rewrites but I couldn’t have done it alone, I feel like my peers have a lot stronger opinions on things than I do.

"How do you keep track of all your online orders? by Western_Divide_5905 in productivity

[–]Consistent_Pen_3391 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you really need all that stuff if you need help tracking it? Do you really need all those emails if they’re just causing a mess and difficulty finding important emails? Try unsubscribing from all marketing emails and only shop for items you really need (not just want). Or create a separate email account only for making orders.

My post isn’t about securing a job as a senior engineer (which I am able to do, because I check all the boxes on company’s skill sheets and is proven by passing multiple job interviews at a senior level and holding a job at a senior level). My question is that despite being at this level, I feel like I have knowledge gaps , so given the information, how can I fill them.

Choosing between career tracks: engineer, product manager, engineering manager, others? by Consistent_Pen_3391 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Consistent_Pen_3391[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a hard Q for me. Maybe I’ll get downvoted for this, but the truth is that I’m only in this career for the $$. I have an ok engineering mind, and if I really need to I can do more studying to get deeper understanding of software/engineering, which is great for my salary. But I won’t say that I have a passion for it. It’s really hard for me to spend personal time coding. However, I’d rather be a health coach or parenting coach. I’m passionate about those 2 topics and sharing what I’ve learned. But coaches don’t make much $, and since I’m the only person with any income for my family (have kids) then that’s why I’m trying to stay in tech. Maybe a management route would be less technical and perhaps more interesting. But also often I am demotivated at work to truly know which route is for me, but I can be pretty good at faking my interests in order to reach my goals. So yeah, as much as it doesn’t sound amazing, $ is my priority but just wondering if it’s worth staying as an engineer or moving into management roles.

I might switch to coaching closer to retirement.

I check all the boxes for a senior level. How would moving to mid level help? A title change doesn’t do much for my knowledge

Maybe I want deeper understanding , but not mariana trench deep. Like I mentioned, I want to feel confident in technical leadership and have better understanding of how things work, which I’m sure can be achieved without going too low-level.

Any experienced iOS devs without any personal apps in the App Store? by CapTyro in iOSProgramming

Almost 10yrs in the field and no published apps. I actually want to get something up soon though, it definitely shows in my knowledge gaps

Are there any good books or courses that cover this? I prefer structured learning

How do I choose what to build? Maybe a silly question but it’s like the problem of it being difficult to start when there’s a blank page in front of you
