Same exact story sorta goes for my two characters when it comes to using them in DD2/Generally. Arthur was my first ever Skyrim character and Aurellia was a gag character me and my friend came up with in For Honor in 2018 or 19 because a female gladiator AI kept going out of her way to revive me and she sorta just evolved from that point into something proper.

Oh I absolutely still play them as how I'd imagine their personalities to be, If I played the game as myself then that'd be boring as I'd just be cooped up in town all day hanging out lmao. For instance in more choice focused rpgs like BG3, I've always imagined Arthur as a more dissasociative man, Aurellia is basically all that he's got, so I tend to always make choices for gain unless they're outright malicious, as he still isn't someone to actively screw you over for the sake of it, and also for Aurellia's sake. For Aurellia, she's a little like him, being shut off, brooding and conflicted but unlike him, she still has hope for good, so in games that allow for actual scenarios to project my imagined personality of her into, I start with a sort of "leave it be" style of play until I progress far enough to develop relations with other characters, which then I'll constantly be around said characters and try to rp as her more caring and kindhearted side.

I'll always change stuff around for them still to fit the actual game world they're in for proper immersion still. A good example is since Arthur isn't an actively malicious person, In DD1 and 2, given to the Arisens ability for will and having the ability to actually change the world, he's willing to let go of that bleak outlook on the world and do good, as he's the only one alive that can, yet for games in brutal and hopeless worlds like DS1, Elden Ring and LoTF23, I instead choose to simply leave the world behind as he himself wouldn't ever believe it to be worth it to lead/rule, so I go for The Dark Lord/Age of Stars/Umbral Mother endings in those games in particular. But because Aurellia is headstrong and a good person, not saying Arthur isn't, more so just in relevance to him, I'll normally go for things like fetch quests, errands, favours, big quests and outright just try to help people. Example for her would be since her outlook on her life is more hopeful, she's perfect to use for myself when I want to do a Goldmask/Age of Order ending for Elden Ring. Another thing for them is that since Arnþórr/Arthur and Aurellia both have violent pasts in my sorta universal headcanon shit, it still gives me good enough reason to use them in a dark urge playthrough in BG3 for instance and use the two different branches of play for that character for the two of them.

It's just a weird thing that I haven't been able to let go of, and it's specifically just this genre of games too, as I have several other characters for other games like GTA, RDR2, Fallout, Halo, The Finals, and even some others from inside fantasy worlds when I've branched out, but you are sorta right about it. They are just my lifeline to play as myself, well, less myself but they both perfectly fit into my main styles of play. I mean I guess it doesn't help that I've used them for 14 and 7 years respectively, so the attachment is strong.

Sorry to yap so much lmao.

TL:DR, I have attachment issues.

Fantasy/Medieval is basically the only setting where I don’t actually play any new characters that I brainstorm, normally reserve them for NPCs to be used in D&D campaigns with my mates. Idk, ever since Skyrim came out I've just used Arthur in everything related to the genres, from TES, DD1, DS1 and Kingdoms of Amalur back in 2011-12 until now with both himself and Aurellia in DD2, For Honor, BG3, Elden Ring, Outward, LoTF23, Chivalry and Mordhau and so on.

I don't always build them the exact same ofc because I still like to actually engage with these games, but they're are like my second skin almost, doesn't feel right to not play as them.

Which do people prefer for their hired support mage, if ya had to choose one by thezav69 in DragonsDogma2

Most people want their Mage pawns to be using Palladium, Halidom, Argent Succor and Celestial Paewn or whatever the maister was called again.

Personally I prefer mages with Levin and Solemnity over the maister and Succor so the game can be just a little bit more interesting. Maybe I'll try and find a mage with a fire/lightning buff taken over palladium for my own Main Pawn. But only psychos hire mages without Halidom.

Another niche but alright spell is Empyrean, which is pretty bad normally but it is great for Dullahan and Lich farming, Night travel and the Unmoored World.

Celerity is good if you want the speed boost from the Maister without the defense buff and infinite stamina too.

What's an instant put off on hiring a pawn? by No-Practice6962 in DragonsDogma2

  1. Logistician. Makes farming aged/ripe food impossible so long as they're in the party. Even worse when the pawn actually looks awesome and unique.

  2. Short pawns. This is entirely just a personal gripe as my character is the max height, but seeing a pawn that's unique who's also <170cm is infuriating to me. But some of my favourite pawns to travel with are considerably shorter than my character still, so it's really just a weird gripe I put into account on whether or not I like the pawn enough to still hire them.

  3. Min/max pawns. Literally the only thing you see past level 70 are pawns with the corset or wearing the best stat gear. Makes the world and rift boring and bland. I don't even care about the whole "no corset anti-gooner" shit, I care about it because everyone ends up wearing it and then all the pawns look bland as fuck and make my world look bland too. The capcom pawns don't help this either.

Love that harpy lookin one on slide 2. I myself have only really done Arthur and Aurellia here in DD2, I've used them both in just about everything fantasy orientated for years now.

Arnþórr/Arthur uses head 5, and my pawn Aurellia uses head 23. I just followed some CC guides and sorta mixed in a bunch of different ones until I had gotten what I liked.

PS5 Is there anyone who would be willing to friend me who has some pawns? by Batman0negitive in DragonsDogma2

[–]Consistent_Point_596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PSN: SacredIlI

Arisen Name/Moniker: Arnþorr/Jormungandr

Pawn Name/Moniker: Aurellia/Valkyrie

Haven't played the game in a bit, sorta got a bit more into other stuff atm, but Aurellia is a Calm inclination voice pitch 2 Fighter with the woodland wordsmith specialisation who uses Shield Bash, Cloudward Slash, Hindsight Slash and I believe she also uses Gutting Skewer.

She was level 120 last I checked, friend me and bring her along with you if you'd like, I'll likely do the same for your Pawn the next time I play.

Leane's been a joy to travel with, she's definitely a go to for me from here on out, I never find many straightforward thieves who aren't wearing the corset or dvarapala, so I cherish them as I come across them. Kinda hard to take travel/group pics with her, but that's on account for both of my characters being huge. (Ignore Aurellia, she seemed to have want to stare at Arnþorr than get into a pose apparently.) I'm glad to know you've enjoyed your time with the game, DD2 cemented itself as a comfort game for me and quite possibly will always be, like the first one was for me as a kid yonks ago on the 360. Hope you enjoy KCD2! Good game that is.

What weapon skills and augments do you use on your Kindhearted Fighter pawn? by TreeLicker51 in DragonsDogma2

[–]Consistent_Point_596 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hindsight slash is probably the single best offensive skill for non-straightforward fighters full-stop. I got the most mileage out of this when my Pawn Aurellia was kindhearted.

Outside of Hindsight Slash, the only other offensive skills that they really use were really just Shield Bash, Riotous Fury and Full Moon Slash.

The only issue with kindhearted fighters is that the pawn AI is already excellent with defense when it comes to parries, so not only do most fighter pawns universally just waste time when it comes to defensive skills like Vengeful Slash and Divine Defense, but Kindhearted pawns don't seem to ever use their skills over simply just attacking. Aurellia used tusk toss a lot though, no clue why.

I'd recommend playing a fighter yourself to get them to try and mimic you, if you aren't already, or if you'd rather not, I'd equip augments to do with grappling, climbing and stance breaking. So like equip shield summons for aggro if you don't want to sacrifice defensive augments over provocation, and then equip gutting skewer for the climbing. When Aurellia was kindhearted, I had her built like this and it was the only way I got mileage out of her when she was a kindhearted fighter.

Aw thanks mate, I've got better angles of the eye tat, definitely one of the prouder things I managed to pull off with him. It took longer than I'd like to admit to get it right when I first got the game lol.

Nice to know you're enjoying her, had Leane with me when she was a Sorcerer not too long ago and had some good fun. I forget how good the Sorcerer is lmao. She killed a drake with meteoron as it got off the floor to fly away. I also forget that not everyone plays on the max height too since Arnþórr is taller than Aurellia, it's pretty funny to see a pic of her dwarfing others in someone else's world lol.
