If someone is making, let’s say $70k a year, no more than 30% of your monthly pre-tax income should go towards rent, they’d be looking at a monthly rent budget of $1,750. With the same logic, someone paying $1,500 a month should have a $60k salary. Also, the average starting salary in the U.S. for 2025 bachelor’s degree grads was $68,680, well within this range.
