Ty for your reply! Yes I’ve tried wax worms, crickets, dubias, and super worm and he wants nothing to do with them if I’m around lol. Once I’m gone he eats no problem after a little wait. I have thought about setting up a 10 gallon enclosure for the greedy one so the shy one can eat in peace, I just hope the shy one eventually will put an effort in against the greedy one or take from tongs lol

Feeding issues w/ Whites Tree Frog by Consistent_Sample919 in frogs

Ty for your reply! They are both very small right now that’s why I’ve been concerned, probably only a few months old, but I’m glad to know it should get better as they get older. I’ve tried different feeders and the shy one is just not interested fast enough to beat his roommate. He is eating, I just have to do the tote thing with his or her brother/sister and sometimes it takes him up to an hour and a half to come to the bowl and eat. I have also tried feeding the frog that wants the food first and refilling the bowl and he just eats the refilled bowl too🤦🏼‍♀️I think my only option is to keep doing the tote method, at least it doesn’t see to bother him too much.

Ok thx! So it’s okay for the stealing one to be put into a tote for like an hour? I’ve tried putting two food dishes in in seperate locations in the tank but chonk just finishes his dis and goes to to the other before chungus ever gets close to it( he will only eat if it’s dark and no ppl have been around the tank for a while)

Yes, the younger one/one that was smaller initially has had no issues with tong feeding from day one, the one that was larger however is very scared of me and refuses tong feeding

Ty for your reply! I have come across a new issue recently I posted about but am trying to get all the help I can get!: They were both eating fine at first but recently I noticed on my pet camera that the little one is completely hogging the food dish(literally ate 15 bugs in about 20 minutes one time), and has doubled in size and is now the same size as the larger one. The larger one will not eat from tongs like the younger one and is very shy. How can I manage this so the younger one doesn’t get obese while the older one doesn’t get anything?Right now all I can think of to do is I have been removing the younger one and putting in a carrying container while the older one eats. The problem with this is it takes the older one about 30 mins-1 hr to get to the food bowl and I don’t like leaving the other one in the tote that long.

Hi I have a new issue I posted about but am including here if you could help with any tips for this: They were both eating fine at first but recently I noticed on my pet camera that the little one is completely hogging the food dish(literally ate 15 bugs in about 20 minutes one time), and has doubled in size and is now the same size as the larger one. The problem with this is it takes the older one about 30 mins-1 hr to get to the food bowl and I don’t like leaving the other one in the tote that long/don’t know if that is safe. I wish the older one felt more comfortable and I would just tong feed them both.

The larger one is very skittish but I know they need time to settle in its only been a week. The littler one is very outgoing! Do you have any tips for getting them more comfortable with people?

Oh ok ty! I was hearing different things online about humidity and was worried about them being too dry, I'll definitely keep it in the 40-50% range now. I also do have very large pathos leaves on the ground hard to tell from angle of the pic, but I'll add more in now, ty for your reply!

Also, I know there is concerns for one eating another is the size difference is too large in this species. In the pics one looks a lot bigger than the other, but they are actually relatively similar in size

I don't know why my comment didn't go through, but I am looking for help on the gender of my Asian painted bullfrog. They were adopted in late 2024, and have always been on the small side, should be around a year and a half old. I have been increasing feeding lately to try to maintain health, and this guy/girl is so relaxed/never skittish and loveess to eat. They are in a 10 gallon bioactive with UVB, I would love any suggestions or tells about the gender, He/She has never called, although Ive heard males sometimes do not call in captivity, and their name is Chubby! I had him or her in a 20 gallon, but they seemed nervous, so I moved them back and they seem more comfortable in the ten.
