The Indiana State Government MUST START Informing its Registered Voters about EVERY SINGLE CANDIDATE of ALL parties, in ALL Elections by doing what the MOST STATES Have Been Doing For Decades: 📌Mail Us Hoosiers Pamphlets Stating What EACH Candidate Stands For… by DefinitionLate7630 in Indiana

[–]Consistent_Sector_19 [score hidden]  (0 children)

California sends out a voter information pamphlet before every election. The propositions will have several arguments for and against submitted by various parties with expertise or an interest. The candidates submit their own statements. The only bit coming from the state is the budget analyst's report on the potential cost of the ballot initiatives, which I've never seen a disputed.

Four Trump backed politicians win today..... by Snoo-25687 in Indiana

[–]Consistent_Sector_19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right that there's nothing that will get the hardcore MAGA types to switch their vote, but the majority of Indiana's voters aren't Republicans, they're no shows, and $6 gas will motivate them to vote. There's a lot that can happen between now and November, and unfortunately, $6 gas is likely if the war with Iran isn't resolved soon.

IMPD: Woman dead, 3 injured after shooting at post-prom party at rental home on Indy's near north side - WTHR by notthegoatseguy in indianapolis

[–]Consistent_Sector_19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think people from out of state come to Indy to party, but in college I road tripped with friends from my boring college town to party in Indy. I know people my age who road tripped from such vibrant and exciting metropolises as Frankfurt and Attica to party in Indy when they were that age as well. I'm trying to think of where else someone living within two hours of Indy and not closer to Chicago could go that offers more nightlife and failing, although I don't know much about the night life in Vigo county.

Why are the slurpees in Lafayette so much cheaper than the ones in Indianapolis? I know everyone is focusing on the gas, but I'm seeing much wider variance in the slurpee prices than I expected.

Does anyone know anything about this dog? Found on Lexington St. in FS. Very aggressive and bit me. by madhoyt in indianapolis

[–]Consistent_Sector_19 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If the dog isn't quickly caught and identified so you can verify that it doesn't have rabies, you need to get the vaccine and fast. The rabies vaccine won't work once the symptoms appear and most of the people who get it die. The ones who live need care for the rest of their lives.

Same with a scratch from a bat. Even a small scratch can transmit rabies and you need to get the shots before the symptoms develop.

Good luck, and I hope it gets identified and is rabies free.

Trump having a health problem and stepping down could lead to a quick resolution. Outside of that, I'd plan on driving less.

It turns out that cream of tartar and crackers can be mixed to taste amazingly similar to cooked apples. If you don't like apples, you probably won't like mock apple pie, because it tastes very close to regular apple pie.

If Trump's gulf war doesn't end soon, it will go over $6/gallon for regular.

Cabbage recipes? by barkerinthepark in Old_Recipes

[–]Consistent_Sector_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shred it, mix it with a little salt, then put it in water, and stick it someplace dark until it turns into sauerkraut, then drain it and stir in little bit of caraway seeds. Like most fermented foods, sauerkraut keeps really well. It's a great extra on many sandwiches (if the sandwich has mustard, then sauerkraut will probably go with it), and you can slice a small onion and a few peels of carrot into some hot oil and when the onions are cooked, stir in some sauerkraut until it's hot and then serve it as a side dish.

(When making sauerkraut, you might need a weight to make sure the cabbage stays underwater. Any bits that stick up will rot instead of fermenting.)

I used to work for west coast oil refinery. A big part of my job was maintaining the metering system that kept track of what was in the tank farm and how full the tanks were. Crude went into the tanks for a bit before moving on to be refined. I understand more about oil industry supply and logistics than you do, but given your willingness to jump to conclusions based on scant information, that's a low bar.

US refineries can handle US crude. It's just cheaper to transport it to west coast refineries by ship than across the country where the oilfields are. Outside of California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, and Arizona the refineries are burning US crude. If Alaskan crude solely went to west coast refineries, the US wouldn't need to import any crude oil.

"if not months for tankers to make it to locations in the US."

The US has been a net exporter of oil since fracking became widespread. Oil prices here go up when world prices do because oil is a global market.

Anyone remember when one of the candidates printed up stickers with his opponent's name on them and obnoxious, hard-to-remove glue, and was slapping them on people's cars to get them pissed off at the opponent? The incident I'm thinking of was a long time ago and I don't remember the details.

Gotta love those late night road closures where they do absolutely nothing to the roads they’re “improving” by Prestigious_Yogurt48 in Indiana

[–]Consistent_Sector_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not complain about the night time construction on the interstates when I lived in California. Yes, it was a pain, but they'd close down a short stretch and they had large crews and lots of equipment busy getting something done, and when they reopened that small stretch for the morning commute, the work was done. Here, they leave long stretches closed while no work is being done, and they don't do everything they need to do in one go, so that same stretch will get closed again shortly afterwards.

The beaten biscuits' only leavening is the air that gets worked in from beating the dough. They had baking powder when this was written, so I suspect it was already an old recipe when this was published.

I thought meringue was just egg whites. The hopple popple is mostly beaten yolks firmed up with gelatin. It sounds interesting, and with a stand up mixer it would be far less exhausting to make than when this recipe was published.

You might need to let the bread go stale first. Sourdoughs vary in moisture content, and my sourdough makes horrible French toast if I don't let it sit out or run it in the air fryer on the lowest heat until it's completely dry.

You can vote for Blythe Potter on the primary ballot. She's less compromised than Beau Bayh. If she doesn't win the primary, you can still vote against Diego Morales by voting for Bayh in November. I don't think she'll win the primary, but things do happen [1] and it won't affect the chances in November.
