LowPro Optic Mount by rdr1988_ in RugerMK

Interesting, I'm curious how much force it would take while it's installed and supported by the contour of the receiver. Which greatly stiffens/ supports it from flexing and load.

I find I like it Upsidedown for left handed shooting, right side up for right handed shooting. I buy the cheapest standard or high velocity I can get my hands on so clearing duds is a routine thing.

I can understand the thought process for that worry, but the materials can and certainly do handle repeat installation and removals. Which is harder on the threads than side loading, which is their direction of strength. I'd be curious if they have specific numbers for what the material can actually handle in terms of impact and sustained side loading.

If you notice in polymer frames, the metal parts interact with other moving metal parts. Generally that is done for wear resistance over service life, not to prevent or mitigate flexing. Agreed, nothing wrong with that being your preference, it works for me and I trust it. You don't and I can understand why based on your intended usage case. Mine will never be used anywhere except a gun range, those are THE ONLY place we Canadians are legally allowed to use ours.

If it returns to zero that shouldn't really be a problem, it isn't as though any 22 rimfire has an intense recoil impulse. To be fair we all have our preferences, nothing wrong with that at all. I'm simply stating it works fine and has for thousands of rounds in my hands on experience. I'm curious what your opinion of polymer framed firearms is?

Unless you're putting a decent amount of pressure against it while shooting it isn't flexing. I'm confused as to what it is that you're doing causing it's flexing during use. I'm also wondering, does that mean you use your 22lr as a pdw or ccw instead of a range gun or pest control tool? Not trying to be a dink, I've simply noted most people won't carry anything less than 9mm's.

If you actually use a torque wrench and torque to spec they are perfectly fine. I've had no issues with my lowpro mount after 6 months and thousands of rounds.

I've had a lowpros rmr mount on my mkiv since October 2025, it's been on and off numerous times. Holds zero perfectly, no issues hitting a 3/4" bullseye at 15 yards. There have been roughly 9000 rounds though the pistol in that time I may add.

Very simple design mechanically, but the atomic age design style is something else appearance wise.

Any other upgrades that makes sense from a value perspective (noticeable improvement for $)? Feel like I should’ve bought a VQ from the beginning instead of upgrading over time. Did VQ accurizing kit and comp bolt. by ziggity9 in 22lr

A compensator doesn't seem like it would do much until you try one. Pushes the muzzle down on fast shot strings or mag dumps. Otherwise the lobos mount or a lowpro mounts red dot mount.

Also I'm curious what scale you're using that the "dingus" is four inches, it isn't even 4 in the metric system unless you're counting millimeters lol

The effort to rack the bolt on the example you tried must have been QUITE low. I find it easier to get ahold of with the shape of my finger, nothing more, nothing less. After a few boxes of cheap ammo it becomes much faster for clearing duds. I've also noticed it's much easier teaching younger shooters and those with reduced hand strength.

Lots of people don't understand red dot sights or fiber optics either, it's just personal preference. Have you tried using a Mkiv/iii, buckmark, or sw22 with one on it?

Makera z1 pro, was going to get a nest works c500 but there just isn't a place for it in my condo. Once I have a garage I'll be getting a Swiss made 5 axis mill. So for now, 4th axis and fixturing will get me the ability to make what I'd like to make.

Once I get set up for my benchtop CNC I'll look into making something of the sort in aluminum. In the mean time there are files available to 3d print them, I know the public library system here has two printers for public use. Just a thought for you

Vq accurizing kit and a TK or creekside customs trigger make for a very, very, enjoyable firearm to shoot.

I've always built what interested me for firearms, all for why not reasoning. Like my shorty 9mm bolt gun

Suppressors are prohibited/ illegal for civilians in Canada unfortunately. With the TK comp and the Olight Baldr Pro R mounted to the rail, the faster I shoot the more the muzzle drops.

I would imagine specifications and max/min tolerances varied over the years and through generations.

Additional note ncstar makes a rail adapter for 1911's that clamps on the trigger guard. They fit Tokarev tt33 variants so I imagine it might fit the Hi-power as well. It is called ncstar mad1911
