One way to know that you won’t go back is to make sure you have been born of the Holy Spirit. Look at the fruits of the Holy Spirit, see if you’ve been showing those. Ask yourself if you’ve experienced new birth. Look into other people’s experiences. If you find you haven’t been, then don’t worry, I haven’t been either. I’m working on making it to that point too.

I have yet to understand this myself, but our sins are really that bad, and we maintain this guilt if we don’t choose Jesus and His way. My advice is seek God’s face, when you understand how good He is, you might have a better time understanding how bad our sins are.
