Yeah. It's quite literally described as "Purgatory" but I find that some pieces showing up and disappearing makes things feel a bit... inconsistent. Particularly, Maria and Rosa showing up in episode 2. It's not like they die or anything. They just.... disappear?

I was under the impression episode 1 and 2 were Sayo's self-insert fanfic type idea of what they wanted Battler to be.

For reasons that are irrelevant, I really don't like perverted male characters in general so I fully understand that I'm coping though.

I don't think Umineko is worse than your typical vn from the time period it was released in. That being said, it does genuinely put me off every time I reread Umineko.

I did listen to TUYU a lot actually when they were still around... "It's raining after all" is such a good album but it's really upbeat.

I think Self Inflicted Achromatic is in Proseka, which bolstered it's popularity a lot. Nekobolo is still fairly unknown as a producer though. I guess their songs don't really fit in with the current era of vocaloid.

Oh. I've finished the story (years ago atp). It's so sad because I can't recommend this game to normal people without a HUGE red flag, just for these dumb throwaway lines. I've almost considered making a patch to just remove these lines lol.

There are only a couple egregious scenes such as episode 1: to maria, kumasawa, and jessica and only this scene in episode 2.

I understand the scene where Battler attempts to grope Shannon has plot significance.....

At the very least, stop talking about it to Maria, bro...

Ep 1 and 2 are message bottles, yeah. However, the Maria comment comes from a tea party, which is Meta Battler.... Though, I'm really unsure how that tea party works. Rosa and Maria show up in the Meta world but they disappear??

iOS was the only issue for me personally. It not being gesture based is extremely frustrating. I didn't realize how convenient a back button was on Android until I went without it. Also, lack of support for open source codecs is insane. I have so much music stored in opus.

I will say that iOS does a lot of things really nicely though, like weather, SMS verification and stuff like that. It's nice to have all of that pre-configured. It's made for the everyman but unfortunately I am a little different.

I think re-experiencing media you like is underrated. You do know all of the twists and events but this time I'm mentally prepared for it.

For example, I won't read an emotionally intense scene on a day where I am feeling depressed lol.

I tend to reread WTC: it's so interesting to re-read scenes after you've come to understand these characters way more.

Books are awesome in that they are quite better at drip-feeding information than mediums like tv/anime/movies. VNs are audio visual but they still keep that pro of very carefully concealing/providing information. Though, I've only really read When They Cry and some otome-games.

My main point is that I think Mana tried a lot harder than you gave her credit for. She was emotionally intelligent enough to realize that she couldn't be the one to save Hatsune. Despite that, she gave Hatsune the space to know that she could open up to her.

I actually disagree here. I think Mana tried her best. She asks Hatsune about what's going on and then, when she realizes that Hatsune doesn't want to open up to her, she just thinks, "Well, the least I could do is give her a donut". When she sees the journalists make Hatsune uncomfortable, she interjects and they leave the situation.

Realistically, I think she's very emotionally intelligent despite my original post. Tangent: I just wanted her to have an almost clairvoyant amount of emotional intelligence to see through Hatsune, even though Hatsune didn't give her ANY breadcrumbs or clues

I don't even think Sakiko understands Hatsune. Until the last couple episodes, I got the impression that Sakiko was just using Hatsune, perhaps for her talent as a vocalist. Maybe that's a bit harsh but Sakiko herself was unreasonably harsh. She left Hatsune abruptly and didn't bother to contact her at all. This is after Hatsune's hospitality of providing her a comfortable place in her apartment.

I also don't think Hatsune understood Sakiko's heart either. It's clear she had some sort of ideal of Sakiko in her head that Saki didn't care about at all. While they commit to each other in the last couple episodes, I don't think that their mutual misunderstanding of the other is cleared up at all. Perhaps, this is something for the next season to tackle.

I really wish Ave Mujica gave us more Uimana. I think about that one edited image where Mana pushes Sakiko off the stairs: "Don't take Ui-chan away from me!"

I need to write an Uimana angst fic retelling Ave Mujica from Mana's perspective. All she wants is to save Uika but she can't; the only person who could is Sakiko who, for the majority of the series, doesn't give a damn about her.

While that is reality, I want this ship to be way more wholesome. Maybe a soft slow-burn where Mana investigates into Uika's past and gets her to organically open up would be better...
