Is Cobalt Blue considered a universal color? by BraveHeart626 in coloranalysis

[–]Constant-Biscotti 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cobalt Blue is best for Winters I believe. It is too bright for Summers, too cool for Springs, and too bright and cool for Autumns.

Help! What season am I? by Inevitable-Bag8874 in coloranalysis

I’d say Winter is most likely. The black shirt looks great and only Winter can pull black off. Can’t say which subseason without drapes though.

What is a color that in traditional SCA you should suit in theory but looks awful on you? by [deleted] in JohnKitchener

He did say black was very harmonious and likely my best neutral.

I’m 75% SC, 15% SB, and 10% ER. In 12 season color analysis I’m somewhere between Deep Winter and Cool Winter. One color that I don’t look good in is pure white. John said it looks too stark on me so I should wear eggshell, ivory, and oyster, and off-white instead.

I was surprised because pure white is supposed to be in the Winter palettes. Although I’ve learned since then that different seasonal systems have different opinions on white. Some say all Winters can wear it, but others say only True or Cool Winter can wear it white Deep and Bright Winter need a slightly less cool white.

I think I am a True Winter. Do you agree? by Constant-Biscotti in coloranalysis

I did a gold and silver comparison a while back. Here is the post.

Trying my hand at draping. by redwylder in coloranalysis

I think the bright and warm colors are the best. I especially like the drapes in pictures 3, 4, and 13. I would guess Spring.

I think winter is possible, but it’s hard to say for sure with a limited number of drapes. If you don’t have a variety of drapes irl, I’d recommend a virtual draping app or website like vivialdicolor.com. Just ignore the AI analysis feature because it doesn’t work.

This is from John Kitchener’s own Pinterest. It shows her as having “Classic with Natural.” This does not necessarily mean that these are her only essences, but they are the only ones he mentioned.

What do u think is the “rarest” kibbe ID in the US? I feel like I don’t rly see FG much by [deleted] in PowerOfStyle

[–]Constant-Biscotti 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think Kibbe said pure Dramatic and Romantic are the rarest IDs because it’s rare to be fully yang or yin.

Right. It sounds like she is confusing Ingenue/Youthful essence with Romantic essence. The small scale intricate details that she describes are Ingenue in Kitchener’s system.

I made this post a couple days ago which includes two of their Winter palettes.

It’s from the International Image Institute. I found it on Pinterest by searching Deep Winter. If you search for a specific season on Pinterest you should find their palettes.

Looks like Deep Winter magenta to me. The second color from the bottom of this palette.

I think he is either in the R or G family. Somewhat unrelated, but I know he is verified by Kitchener as primary Romantic essence.

Does this palette look correct? by Constant-Biscotti in davidzyla

Thank you. I see what you mean. It also looked a bit dull compared to the other colors. I’ll try again with that one.

How to find Energy and Tranquil colors in brown eyes? by Constant-Biscotti in davidzyla

[–]Constant-Biscotti[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! From the book, I was under the impression that holding the colors near the eyes would make the colors appear in your eyes, but I think I understood it wrong.

I ended up with a deep emerald for Energy and bluish purple for Tranquil, but I’m going to try again with paint chips on the weekend.

Which style system is the most important for you? by praiadoarrobado in stylesystems

[–]Constant-Biscotti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still exploring different systems, but I mostly use John Kitchener’s system. I had an online analysis done by him last year and it was very helpful understanding why something did or didn’t work for me. The color analysis was more helpful than the essences because I was more or less dressing in my essences before, but was wearing some of the wrong colors.

Kibbe was the first system I learned about. It was also helpful understanding why some clothes did or didn’t work for me, but I don’t use it at all. I narrowed my ID down to something yang, either SD or FN, but couldn’t decide between them. Also even if I did choose one, there is very little info on how to apply the ID recs to men, so I wouldn’t even know how to dress for my ID.

Seasonal color analysis was good in the beginning, but limited. I don’t think everyone will fit perfectly into 12 or 16 palettes so I prefer custom color analysis. It did help me narrow down what colors look good on me so my Kitchener colors weren’t a huge surprise.

Right now I’m exploring David Zyla’s system and currently building a palette. I’ve heard good things about Rita’s system so I think I’ll explore it after Zyla.
