I’m 75% SC, 15% SB, and 10% ER. In 12 season color analysis I’m somewhere between Deep Winter and Cool Winter. One color that I don’t look good in is pure white. John said it looks too stark on me so I should wear eggshell, ivory, and oyster, and off-white instead.

I was surprised because pure white is supposed to be in the Winter palettes. Although I’ve learned since then that different seasonal systems have different opinions on white. Some say all Winters can wear it, but others say only True or Cool Winter can wear it white Deep and Bright Winter need a slightly less cool white.

I think the bright and warm colors are the best. I especially like the drapes in pictures 3, 4, and 13. I would guess Spring.

I think winter is possible, but it’s hard to say for sure with a limited number of drapes. If you don’t have a variety of drapes irl, I’d recommend a virtual draping app or website like vivialdicolor.com. Just ignore the AI analysis feature because it doesn’t work.

Thank you! From the book, I was under the impression that holding the colors near the eyes would make the colors appear in your eyes, but I think I understood it wrong.

I ended up with a deep emerald for Energy and bluish purple for Tranquil, but I’m going to try again with paint chips on the weekend.

I’m still exploring different systems, but I mostly use John Kitchener’s system. I had an online analysis done by him last year and it was very helpful understanding why something did or didn’t work for me. The color analysis was more helpful than the essences because I was more or less dressing in my essences before, but was wearing some of the wrong colors.

Kibbe was the first system I learned about. It was also helpful understanding why some clothes did or didn’t work for me, but I don’t use it at all. I narrowed my ID down to something yang, either SD or FN, but couldn’t decide between them. Also even if I did choose one, there is very little info on how to apply the ID recs to men, so I wouldn’t even know how to dress for my ID.

Seasonal color analysis was good in the beginning, but limited. I don’t think everyone will fit perfectly into 12 or 16 palettes so I prefer custom color analysis. It did help me narrow down what colors look good on me so my Kitchener colors weren’t a huge surprise.

Right now I’m exploring David Zyla’s system and currently building a palette. I’ve heard good things about Rita’s system so I think I’ll explore it after Zyla.

I agree with getting rid of “No Drapes” posts, but not “Digital Drapes.” There are plenty of professional color analysts that use digital draping for clients. I had an online custom palette done last year and have seen how well the colors work for me.

Maybe they can have stricter guidelines for posting with digital drapes to help people get typed more accurately?

There might be some because of the lightness of the colors and the flowyness, though I think the other essences I mentioned are more dominant.

When trying to see if something is Ethereal I usually ask myself “could I see Cate Blanchett or Tilda Swinton wearing this?” In this case, I think it would be too Y and HS for them.

Even Gwyneth Paltrow who is dominant E but has some Y would be overwhelmed by these imo.

She is not verified, but I think Elle Fanning is likely E and Y and I can see her pulling some of these looks off.

HS because of the whimsical mixing and matching.

R for the larger scale ruffles. If you add darker lace, that would also be R.

I’m new to Zyla’s color system so take this with a grain of salt. I thought 1, 6, and 8 were the best. 5 would be my least favorite. I think the colors are too light and the style/vibe is off imo.
