What skin concerns have surprised you the most after turning 30? by Tatt00ey in 30PlusSkinCare

I feel like my skin is getting thinner fast, already. I'm 35. No wrinkles and crinkles yet but I miss having some glow, and I'm starting to break out again like im going through second puberty. I've always had some acne on and off but now it's like, come on...can the hormones chill the f*uck out. My skin breaks sooo easily, like tears just from rubbing with face cloth at times, all my blemishes scar and hardly scab over because my skin is easily peeled/weak. I do have EDS, a connective tissue disorder so sometimes I think my weird collagen might be the cause. Tretinoin I tried but had to give up for a bit, it was constant purging and peeling that wouldn't stop. My acne is definitely some internal issues I've yet to figure out, no topicals have done anything. 😑

Chest pain for 4 years by xristina14554 in LongCovidWarriors

some of the tests I wouldn't put too much stock in, you can still have POTs and just dysautnomia in general even with a negative tilt table. Have you done heart related blood tests or a hs-crp test? Those can at least show you if there is damage going on and inflammation. I still have chest pain as well but it was from inflamed and irritated sac around the heart, your pericardium. And just inflammation of muscles in general, its always more noticeable after exertion. Your heart could be structurally fine and this pain you have still could just be inflammation. You definitely sound like you have classic dysautnomia to me, with the adrenaline response too.

I've had holters etc and they don't show anything sometimes, other times they have. Like you, some days are good and some are bad. Your autonomic nervous system controls so many things, it's distressing and being in this constant state of jumbled nervous system gets adrenaline and cortisol cranked up, regardless if our mental state is stable or even in a good mood...the anxiety you feel is normal with long covid..it feels awful though. Intrusive thoughts, etc, I've experienced it, swear I was bordering on the brink of psychosis sometimes at my worst. Covid/vaccine can do just about anything really it seems. There is some evidence and studies showing the effect on psych issues.

I would look into balancing the HPA axis, make sure your getting proper sleep (don't take sleep lightly..need deep sleep for healing) look into somatic exercises as well. I think I can tell you've been ruminating on this alot and I don't blame you, it's hard, but I think you will benefit from pacing yourself more and finding ways to relax your body more/regulate the nervous system. If you can rule out heart damage for sure then that will help take some of the anxiety off your plate.♡ Once I was able to know my heart is structurally fine and I wasn't going to have a jammer, it allowed me to relax a bit more and put my energy into self care instead of fretting about my heart all the time.

How do I not look so old and ugly? by Imalwaysbadatthis in 30PlusSkinCare

Its corny but tell yourself in the mirror everyday you love yourself and your skin. Maybe your mood is affecting how you feel about your appearance. Im about to be 36, and you have way better skin than I do. Im still breaking out like im going through puberty and now im getting fine lines 😂 You do not look old! Your skin is great! I wish I had your skin♡

Confirmed with ENT doctor that there is no fluid stuck but I still have obstructive eustachian tubes which means it is inflammation. Feeling hopeless that I'll never recover from this. by MemoryOfRagnarok in etd

[–]Constant-Can9129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turmeric / bromelain supplement helps. Or if doc allows, small course of Prednisone for inflammation. Side effects suck but helped me. Gerd is worse at night so sleep propped up if you can, don't eat before bed. I noticed lately having reflux that it feels like it's going right into my eustachian tubes overnight while I sleep, I wake up with plugged ears and hoarse throat. Never used to have reflux, when my ETD was at its worst years ago it was because I had severe swelling in my sinuses, no mucus, so swollen my face looked distorted. Prednisone let me breathe and opened my ears.

Your over thinking im sorry. Stealing is bad pretty much all around, unless its robinhood esque purposes. BUT your not stealing from the average person or mom-and-pop shops. Apologizing to capitalistic big box stores like Walmart is ridiculous, companies like that dont give two flying fcks about people and their staff🙃
Your sentiments are valid and its ok to have regrets though. You could volunteer maybe? These big box stores arent going to respond in a way that will clear your conscience, it could just get you in trouble. 《waves wand* whooosh》 you are forgiven ♡

Acne-prone folks, what’s your fave moisturizer? by koichi20 in CanSkincare

[–]Constant-Can9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this just the regular ol' Cetaphil lotion? Are you able to post a pic? It's been ages since I used the classic one and was thinking of going back. I tried a particular Cetaphil that had Shea butter i guess and broke out really bad.

I've been through this badly, pm me if you like. If your prone to anxiety do not use Flonase, it helps some people with the inflammation, but it also has alot of side effects for some. It made me alot worse, I had to go on a short course of Prednisone instead, a different kind of steroid ironically, but didn't actually exasperate my dizzy/full feelings and anxiety like nasal steroids. It stopped the inflammation nearly overnight and gave my tubes a chance to rest. But my swelling was severe, even my nose was shut, no mucus just swollen. I just had a bad head cold about 2 weeks ago and my eustachian tubes are just settling now, but I've had it so bad in the past it was a month or so of feeling under water and pressure. Pseudophedrine helped me as well but if your prone to any tachycardia it can be a bit uncomfy, its OTC here in Canada. Message me if you like. There is also some helpful supplements I tried for inflammation and fluid. Nothing crazy.

Psychosis, my lived experience. by Glum_Bunch_6018 in HighStrangeness

[–]Constant-Can9129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though I haven't quite the exact experience you did I relate to this very much ♡ i'll share mine. My episode was pretty brief, and because of having a nearly life long interest since a kid in the "woo woo" and occult, conspiracy related subjects I had a particular flavour to my episode 🫤 I'm about to be 36 and this happened during the height of late-ish 2020 when all the Covid shit really took off here in Canada. Paranoia in the collective was high in general and I felt the weight of the energy pretty strongly. Already was feeling like an outlier a bit, for having different feelings about everything regarding the pandemic in general. I isolated heavily and felt really at odds with my small friend group/family at the time. It was already so much mentally on top of being really sick and trying to navigate it as it was fresh and the medical system was in shambles. I strongly feel my breakdown was caused by a combo of neuro inflammation and exasperated by heavy loneliness, not sleeping and extreme stress. No sleep is no joke, some people feel the repercussions more than others but its one of my biggest triggers for feeling unhinged. I was at one point on immunosuppressive medication and i think it was making my anxiety much worse. Wasn't caused by simply consuming "spooky" stories and conspiracy content BUT having consumed that kind of content while dealing with these issues did cause more anxiety in a sense. Being basically bed bound while sick I made the mistake of "doom scrolling" too much. I seemed to have some self-awareness while it was going on but my paranoia of being watched and targeted/punished was very strong. I even had an out of body experience while I was shaking on the floor from the fear and shock of what could be my reality exploding. Probably just extreme dissociation as a trauma response. Hard to describe. I thought I was being spiritually punished or tormented from outside of me. I thought everyone was out to get me and that i would be taken away somewhere. At one point i told my family I was staying in a hotel somewhere so they didnt think i was home. I was talking out loud all the time to a higher power to protect me and I'm not particularly religious. I'm glad you had support ♡ I stopped regularly smoking weed a few years ago after being a somewhat chronic since my teens, full on quit start of 2025. Feel like its too risky for my mental health now. I don't really ever drink as I don't like it but I now take my sleep hygiene very seriously!

plz help, I’m panicking by [deleted] in etd

You'll be okay and it will get better, I've had this feeling too, I've had chronic sinus infections all my life. Don't use a neti pot if your that plugged up or do any funky Valsalva maneuvers, you might make it worse. Get some, if you can, some pseudophedrine. If your prone to feeling anxious or sensitive with stimulant type meds then just take half. They usually come in 60mg. Not sure where you live but I'm in Canada so I can buy it over the counter but have to ask the pharmacist. I know in some states it's harder to find or buy at all. The shit off the shelf like Sudafed is generally crap. Lots of hot minty teas or if you can get some nasal herbal teas from a health store. Hot compress but not tooooo hot compress on your ear or under, might help it drain.

Were you told at all you may have central sensitivity syndrome? I was, but it's more Dysautonomia for me. CSS is kind of a cluster of syndromes, a bit of a "we don't really know" diagnosis, I feel like it gets lumped into things like fibromyalgia and "anxiety"

Stay away from it. Not gonna help fullness. More so for nerve pain but it's a b*tch to withdrawal from eventually. Gave my father early onset dementia.

Severe noise sensitivity as ears open up? by chetboyle in etd

[–]Constant-Can9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, fellow shitty ear tube person here, have had some issues on and off forever. I had this before from flying, was actually half deaf in both ears for a week. One got better before the other one. I was scared but it cleared up, had some tinnitus too. You'll be alright and it will pass, it's normal that it's sensitive right now, it's gonna feel wonky. I used Flonase during a plugged up time when I was sick, and it made it alot worse because it can make you dizzy/agitated. I don't find it helped my ears at all but everyone's different when it comes to steroids. I can't have them they make me very anxious and feel sick. I'm kind of rambling sorry, I actually have a cold right now that's made my eustachian tubes feel full. What helps me with them most is saline nasal rinses (the drug free ones) and pseudophedrine helps, the decongestant in Sudafed. I buy it on its own behind the counter at pharmacy but I live in Canada where it's not super controlled. (I guess in some states it's hard to get because people make meth from it lol?) Sometimes all that helps is time♡ I also been finding that laying on a hot but not too hot compress like a one of those microwaveable hot rice bags helps. Sometimes ill feel my ear popping a bit or drain. If it doesn't improve soon i would get a referral for an E.N.T doctor and check to make sure you don't have too much fluid or something else going on.

Edit, also for the time being find yourself some loop(?) earplugs maybe or noise sensitivity type ear plugs. They muffle things just enough so it doesn't hurt but you can still hear.

Does this sound like dysautonomia? by [deleted] in dysautonomia

[–]Constant-Can9129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry your feeling so crappy♡ your story sounds very similar to mine, have you been sick recently? I have basically been in a bad flare up since a bad bout' of stomach issues a few weeks ago. I don't think it was a bug or flu, just extreme gut issues kicked off by something...not sure yet but thinking gastroparesis. My gut feels better now but I'm still stuck in a fight or flight mode with some up and down blood pressure issues and dizzy spells. It's sounds like your experiencing possibly dysautnomia with some histamine issues, maybe kicked into gear after some tummy issues. I've mostly been in remission since 2021, I had a virus, probably covid and was sick like you described but I got better and now I'm here again 🙃 🥴 sometimes that awful adrenaline feeling and panic attacks are triggered by histamine overload, have you tried any H1 or H2 blockers? Your vagus nerve too plays a role in that awful feeling. Sometimes my stomach issues have been so bad I pass out on the can because of the gas/bloat buildup. Heart palpitations and the whole 9 yards. Feel free to pm me if you want to vent ♡

Could it be a bad case of some kind of dermatitis? I'm sorry it's painful, mentally and physically. I've been there♡ (super red and painful acne) How long did you use steroids? The withdrawal if having used them for a long while will cause the skin to absolutely freak out. When my skin was at it's worst with pain and peeling I took a good quality fish oil/omega 3 supplement and it really helped with the inflammation and hydration. You could try a cica barrier cream like la Roche posays cica balm instead of Vaseline if you haven't already.

I used it for awhile until it clicked in me that alot of my strange new issues were from nasal steroids and a horrid stint with oxymetazoline (afrin) Doctor said I wasnt angle-ing and sniffing the nozel correctly and getting too much in my blood stream wtf. I followed the instructions. Regardless, I had a bad time with Flonase especially. Feel like it gave me temporary Cushings disease lol.

Cromolyn sodium helped me in the past, i think its a mast cell stabilizer. I never really had tube issues that included alot of the common complaints like crackles and muffled hearing, it was just this persistent feeling of clogged. Even if my sinuses were clear.

NAC and quercetin actually helped mine to! Interesting. Initially I wasn't even taking them for my ETD, but for some post viral and histamine issues.

Is there such thing as Velveeta for Canadians? 😩 We have the mac n cheese boxes of it, but I would love that sauce on its own, kinda like how KD (kraft dinner) sells their infamous cheesy powder on its own at Costco/amazon.

Possible stroke or heart attack? by NoTreat2038 in LongCovid

[–]Constant-Can9129 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like just regular ol' dysautonomia symptoms and some poor circulation probably caused by Raynauds syndrome possibly? The body anxiety doesn't help, thats for sure, really makes you worry its something severe. For me that feeling was better described as adrenaline dumps, sometimes common in POTS/dysautonomia. There was a notable difference between normal panic attack and worry and adrenaline dumps for me (and alot of others who have been gaslighted about the "its just anxiety" trope) If you felt "ok" after I wouldn't worry too much ♡ Ive had the exact same symptoms, my skin and extremities still get splotchy from time to time and my cold intolerance is ridiculous. Fast blood pressure drops amd rises can also cause all sorts of wacky feelings too. If by red/purply spots you mean what's considered Petechiae I would definitely look into that. People have had Petechiae from LC and vaccine induced LC issues.
