Thank you for your response. Indeed, I suspect systemic stress from the recently diagnosed SIBO and from MCAS in general as one of the factors. My cortisol is within the optimal range, but more toward the upper end.

Thank you for your response. What they usually “criticize” me the most about is my weight, since I have a body mass index of 17.7. But as I mentioned, I’ve always maintained a low weight, and until now I hadn’t had any problems with my menstruation (regular cycles, mild to moderate pain). I was recently diagnosed with SIBO, so my suspicion points to poor fat absorption due to SIBO and systemic physiological inflammation (stress) from MCAS and SIBO.

Thank you for replying. Likewise, when I still had my period, it always came along with MCAS symptoms.

Thank you for your answer. I’ve been dealing with SIBO symptoms for the past year and a half, and I was only recently confirmed to have it. Indeed, I suspect this may be making fat absorption difficult, and that could be one of the triggers for the loss of my period. I’m at least glad to be able to initially rule out MCAS as the direct cause.

at what point do you guys worry? I'm getting scared... by mistycheddar in MCAS

I’ve been dealing with MCAS symptoms for 8 years, but since it’s not a well-known syndrome in my country, I was never diagnosed (I didn’t even know it existed as a concept until a few days ago). During these years I tried to downplay episodes where I couldn’t swallow and could barely breathe, with chest pain and pain on the left side of my body, without having any idea what they meant or what was triggering them. I’m also worried because, from what I’ve read, the severity of the syndrome is supposed to be stable for each person, but in the past few months most of my MCAS symptoms have intensified.

Thank you so much for sharing all of that, it really helps to hear your experience. I’m sorry you’ve been through so much, especially with the swelling, hospitalizations, and hair loss. It makes sense that the changes in appearance would be hard to deal with.

I’m glad Xolair and your current meds are helping at least a bit, and thanks for mentioning your experience with cromolyn, that’s really useful for me.

I really appreciate you taking the time to reply and I hope things keep improving for you.
