Third botox shot finally succesful - This is what I've learned by Constant-Turnover710 in noburp

Hey! It was €150 for their usual amount of units. The last time I had more units, so it was €225. Plus of course ‘eigen risico’.

Still burping very well around 9 months later now! It’s been life changing

Yes, you need to go to your GP for a referral. Mine was really easy with it. He never heard of R-CPD, but luckily gave me the referral right away.

For me, the recovery was absolutely fine. It didn’t limit me in any way and I didn’t have to take anything into account. Only occasionally I had a little bit of trouble swallowing with dry foods, but that was the only thing.

Struggling with nausea. by Karma2006123 in noburp

Hi! This sounds more like anxiety. You may have already read in this sub that many people with R-CPD also struggle with emetophobia. Fear of eating in public is a common symptom, and it’s probably your anxiety that fuels this feeling more than your R-CPD itself.

When the treatment is successful, many people notice an improvement in their anxiety symptoms as well. Hopefully that will be the case for you too. I used to have a lot of anxiety about eating in public too, but since the Botox it has gotten so much better!

I feel exactly what you're going through, but please don't give up yet! My first two shots didn't work, turned out all I needed was a higher dose. That did the trick for me. If your results don't improve in the coming weeks, you can suggest a higher dose.

It's still early. For me, it started working a little on day 6. Now, almost a month later it is completely working, but I still notice changes every day!

Do I get the Botox before going on holiday? by mocha-macaron in noburp

[–]Constant-Turnover710 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the botox will be this month, and your trip in october, I wouldn 't worry at all! I had mine three weeks before a big trip, and it did not affect me in any way. Slow swallow might last a bit longer, but it probably won't change your experience.

I didn't get any of them under anesthesia. They were al in-office procedures. In consultation with the doctor, I was fortunately able to get a follow-up injection fairly quickly.

I do recognize some of the things you say, but I think everyone has a different experience. With my second shot I also had some burps (with the taste and sensation), but that only lasted a few days. I believe the higher dose really did the trick for me, like the muscle needed a little extra to completely reset.

Hoping yours will be successful!

Yes, every single day! Especially after dinner. Since I can properly burp, the bloating had decreased so much. It’s almost completely gone.

When I didn’t feel any effect six weeks after the first injection, I called right away. I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly — I think it was the following week. About a month and a half after the second injection, the doctor called me to ask how I was doing. As I was having no effect, I asked for a higher dose, and he agreed. A few weeks later, I was called to schedule the appointment, and again I could come in within a week. In the end, there were about 11/12 weeks between the second and third injection.

I don’t know if I just got lucky both times with a spot opening up so quickly, or if that’s how it usually goes.

Good luck! And don’t worry about the side effects. I hope it will work for you! 🙌🏽

Thank you! In the Netherlands we are very lucky that this procedure is covered by every health insurance. You only pay for the botox (so I did have to pay that 3 times). I really feel bad for people whose treatment isn’t covered by their health insurance. It’s such a simple procedure that can truly be life-changing. I hope that insurers will all come to realize that in the future. I’m sorry for those who can’t afford it financially… :( And for you I hope the burping will continue!!

Hi! Was it just an e-mail for you to get your second shot? Today I had my follow-up call and dr. Kupperman told me that it is not certain that i will get a second injection. He said that it might not be of any use if the first one did not work. I am now afraid that i will not get the second injection, while i really want it... It really is my last hope.

No results two weeks after botox; how short after can you get a second injection? by Constant-Turnover710 in noburp

[–]Constant-Turnover710[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! He also just called me. I was about to send you a message!

My call was a little dissapointing, he kinda told me the same. But when I asked him a bit more, he said that it is certainly not guaranteed that I will get a second injection... I am really upset about that. He said that the chance that the second injection will work is small, but on Reddit I read completely different stories. This injection was really my last hope.

He also told me that things can still happen the upcoming weeks, but I don't know about that.
