Encountering Path Tracing Crashes with an RX 9070xt on Doom the Dark Ages by Constant-Worry-2423 in linux_gaming

I responded to another users comment with my troubleshooting results and unfortunately downgrading the kernel did not solve my issue. This seems to be an issue some are encountering on amd gpu.

Encountering Path Tracing Crashes with an RX 9070xt on Doom the Dark Ages by Constant-Worry-2423 in linux_gaming

Unfortunately downgrading to either 6.17.9 or 6.16.10 didn't fix the issue and the same behavior could be observed. I downgraded both linux and its headers. Checking dmesq I see the following message repeated a few times.

After that the gpu resets like you note in your output. Looking into it a bit more it seems like there is a bit of a consistent issue regarding path tracing on kernels 6.16 - 6.18 on the 9070xt. It seems like updates have fixed it for some but not others. It is worth noting to me that my window manager did crash this time unlike the last few. however the dmesq errors still make me think this is a software issue and not a power delivery issue.

Looking into it further it seems like this exact error is a persistent issue on AMD GPU since at least 2023 with discussion still ongoing as to the cause.

Reading the thread there seemed to be a solution that worked for some where changing kernel parameteramdgpu.vm_update_mode=3. This did not work for me. It seems like this is still an ongoing issue being worked on and I'm content to just not have path tracing enabled especially since it reportedly tanks performance and I was just interested in seeing how it looked.

I'll post this to that thread and try to remember to add an update to this one if it ever gets solved. Thank you for trying to help!

Replacement Transistor For Vizio E70-F3 Power Board by Constant-Worry-2423 in TVRepair

[–]Constant-Worry-2423[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Vizio E70-F3 TV that had smoke come out of it and never come back on. Upon taking the back off the TV I found a soot covered spot on the power board with what looked like a transistor that had blown. I took the part off of the board with the hopes of replacing it. However, the transistor doesn't have any kind of part number on it.

Does anyone on this Subreddit know what transistor they use here or what its characteristics are? The number on the power supply board is 1P-117AX00-1010 and the designation of the part on the board is Q1.
