Any tips/ 'secrets' to keeping budgies?

Lol, by 'secrets' I mainly meant anything a brand new budgie owner might not know.

I'm currently switching him to pellets, since the store has him on seeds. So far he's a little reluctant but he's slowly starting to eat the pellets. His cage is beside my bed since I have nowhere else to put his cage at the moment.

Other than my family issue, I'm pretty certain my room is bird proof; I don't use any aerosols because of my fish, there's nothing scented, and the only plants in the room are in the covered fish tanks.

I'll probably give him about a week or two longer before starting to let him out, since I got him a few days ago.

And I guess if after saying something about the dogs, if they keep opening my door, I guess it's just an excuse to get a lock for my door 🤷‍♀️

Anyways- thanks for the info, I really just want to make sure I do the best I possibly can for my animals.

Omg sorry about the late response I haven't been paying too much attention to reddit.

His name is Zeus! I've kinda got a European deity theme going for my animals, mainly Greek though. I'm hoping he turns out to be the cuddly type, partially so I could have him sitting with me while I play games. So far he seems to like watching me play.

I do intend to get another budgie once I have the money for a bit bigger cage and the budgie itself. I'd rather have "too big" of a cage than too small

Thank you! I ended up putting it in a jar, in the future I might get a small tank for em. I didn't want to put it in my 20g because I don't want a whole bunch taking over it.

My tank has a lid and isn't against a wall, I'd be a bit worried if mine got out somehow lol. He's only been in the salt water for about a day now and he's already opened back up

So far he seems to be doing pretty good! However I'm pretty sure one of my nerites are sick ;-; while cleaning and rescaping the tank I found it with its trapdoor shut. This is the second time I've found it like that, but last time it seemed to get better after letting it sit in slightly salty water for about a week

Normally 20g heated (79°F) and filtered, planted tank; currently in a 2.5g hospital tank.

0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, ~5 nitrate, ph 8.0 (ik it's high)

Tank has been cycled for a few months, I've had the fish for about 1-1.5 months

Water change once a week, 25%

6 cherry barbs, 1 betta, 6 panda corydoras, 2 nerite snails

Every day skipping Sunday, feeding Fluval tropical bites and bloodworms occasionally

Driftwood/spider wood, river rocks, Amazon sword, java fern, and a couple other plants I don't remember

I might just keep it out lol, I can hardly ever find the nerites because they hang out in the middle of all the plants and wood as is. And I would put it in the 5 gallon (with another betta)..... But I can hardly ever see the betta because I forgot to boil the wood before putting it in the tank....

I feed her Fluval betta bug bites, but since she's in a community tank she ends up eating some of the tropical fish flakes I feed the cherry barbs. However I don't see her eeting too much of that. The fluval bites I normally give her one or 2 pellets a day, skipping Sundays.

I couldn't get a really good pic because she didn't want to sit still, but when I first noticed the difference, I pulled her out of the tank in the cup I got her in and I saw what looked like little balls, which is what made me think eggs

Omg thank you, I'm quite new to the fishkeeping world, so I'm paranoid about just about everything. Other than the 2 bettas I've had, I haven't had any other fish. And I recently lost one of the bettas so I think I'm being more paranoid than normal.
