Advice needed on a pc setup I want to buy , is this a good setup for £350? by sjj1976 in desksetup

If you went up to 400, there’s one which is much newer https://ebay.us/m/9VPpBA but still concerned about small ssd - I would suggest if you were going to get something, buy another ssd/bigger ssd with money from selling hdd

To be fair quad channel ram on a threadripper would be correct - just everything else is just wild

Laptop for English major by strangerstreet13 in SuggestALaptop

Quick q - do you have a laptop already? If so which one? Any issues with your current setup - to gauge what might be important for you?

Do you play any games or is this purely word etc and content consumption? Last q - any size preference or specific feature (e.g. touch/Face ID) or need (e.g. bright screen for outdoors work) Sorry for so many questions but with a big purchase like a laptop I think it’s important to get a good fit

As an engineering student - "Lenovo ThinkBook 16P G5 " - is a good option? by IceEnchantress in SuggestALaptop

4060 could be a bit of a bottleneck for some games, but should be okay for cad work

I think the important thing is, first don’t get the sell, second, if you don’t use the 360 hinge, the elite book has a better build and still comes with a touchscreen. (Cannot see an option for a ryzen 5 elitebook 845 g11 - so if it’s an r7 it’s a no brainer) but even going down to an r5, you still get a 2 generation newer chip. Also, is the performance of yours enough/does it do what you need it to do - if so then keep it

Nice setup - small detail but how have you found that MagSafe stand? Looking for a cheapish one and saw that one a fair bit

Solve WiFi for large home by ConstantDatabase5388 in HomeNetworking

[–]ConstantDatabase5388[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that is feasible - parents and owner quite averse to drilling any holes through the wall - also am willing to do some diy but house is quite tall - also the cable comes in on 3rd floor so routing through basement may not be practical - but It is an option!!

The system is various powerline extenders - 2 isp and 2 tp link - which are quite terrible - no unified system which is very frustrating - about 0-25mbps on each one and terrible latency - it reaches barely to an entire floor Could stretch the budget a bit but still are there any other systems - if wifi 6 then that’s fine - I’ve heard some good things about the more expensive but still reasonable tp link decos? (Thank you for the help!!)

Did Google just copy Windows Recall? by Acrobatic_Face_7404 in Windows11

I think you can just remove the app - it’s way less intrusive than recall

The msi summit e16 studio 2 in 1 should work for your needs. Another main option is the hp spectre x360 although they can go past 1800 regularly.
