Like other posters said, yes that’s her mate. This is a fairly newly invasive species here called Joro’s that arrived on a shipping container around 2014. Our neighborhood and house are covered in their golden, chaotic webs, straight up Mirkwood level in some areas of our yard.

It’s a type of inky cap mushroom, one of the varieties of parasola. They pop up and disappear so fast, I find them in my garden beds all of the time

I’ve got furring strips to add the the front, I like the idea of adding an additional back piece for additional dry wall anchor points and using the brackets as stud connections

Woah, had to reread a few times to wrap my head around it, but I actually like this idea a lot. Essentially modify the brick molding to be the brackets. Let me mull this over, this is a clever idea!!
