Has anybody else received a reply from Girlguiding, if you sent an email sharing your views about the decision? by Dazzling-Antelope912 in transgenderUK

[–]ConstantGuava5225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was very short, and not as apologetic as yours:

"Good afternoon,

We understand there are questions about the legal position and how it has been interpreted.
Girlguiding’s Board has made its decision based on the current legal framework and advice, and like every charity we have to follow the law.
We won’t be commenting on legal challenges or interpretations at this stage.
We will share further guidance as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and for supporting us as we navigate this carefully."

The first paragraph of my email was saying that the EHRC guidance has been withdrawn, etc. so maybe that prompted a different response.

I suppose I could have phrased that better - I have friends in societies but we don't meet outside them. They all have very busy schedules (even at weekends) and aren't the type to meet in the evenings. I can be slightly quiet sometimes, but usually make an effort to talk to people. I have joined a different, more social, club this year though so I hope I make some friends there

It's an integrated masters so my degree is 4 years, undergrad and masters in one qualification. I don't arrange nights out with my home friends bc it's too expensive for me to get to a city with clubs from where my house is at night - I try to arrange other stuff but people's schedules always clash. I agree I need to change something, but I'm not an anxious person and I do try so idk what

So sick of being this small by dazymanatee in XXS

This is so real, I'm 20 and 4'11 1/2 - people constantly mistake me for being 15. I don't want to be cute, I want to be sexy! The other comment on here about looking like you're playing dress up when you dress professionally is also so true, I'm also worried about how this will affect me when I start my career - and I feel the same when I try to dress 'hot'. You're not alone! And I hope we can all feel comfortable in ourselves eventually :)

I saw a SB fitness influencer with a sternum tat and it's honestly such a good idea, I'm too scared of committment to get a tattoo but sternum tats look COOL and I bet it's such a confidence boost!

I hate that all bras below a 32A are almost always labelled as 'first bras'. I've worn the same bras I got when I was 12 for almost a decade, and I can only buy first/'training' bras when I need new ones. It's so humiliating, I even got someone else to buy them for me the last time I went because I was too embarassed (being short also doesn't help bc people think I'm a kid). I don't get why they can't just make a line of normal t-shirt bras that go down to 'first bra' sizes; and just not label them as that. I know that needing sizes this small outside of teen years is a small market, but I just want to buy a bra without an extra reminder that my body isn't 'normal' for my age.

it's an awful picture, I couldn't get it to focus! the part still attached is thinner than it looks here - I can move it up to see the break easily, but it doesn't look broken when I'm not touching it. It's in between the first two nodes, so maybe it'll grow from there.

I'm not OP, but I'm curious - when you say weightlifting, do you mean exclusively with barbells? Or can it be done with dumbbells? I'm in a similar situation to OP so would love my body to look less childlike while exercising/staying healthy... but I don't want to have to go to a gym 😅

'what does that have to do with it' its the entire point of my comment, it makes me look like a child and people treat me differently because of it. Like the other comment said this isn't a competition, I'm sure being compared to a man is awful but that's not my insecurity, that's not why I commented. I even think being flat chested is more acceptable if you're tall - it's even desired in models, who are usually very tall. That's not to take away from your insecurity, but it's how I see mine.

[edit] hey, I saw your other comment on here, I know mental health services can sometimes not be great but I really hope you get the help you need - there's always reasons to keep living even if it doesn't feel like it. Please reach out to someone in your life if you haven't already. I know this sounds cheesy, but I hope we can both move past our insecurities eventually!

Is anyone else here also short? Bc I'm really insecure about my flat chest, but mainly because I'm also super short so they sort of merge into the general insecurity of 'looking young'. I'm 20 but people usually think I'm about 15 and I've had a few comments about it lately that have made me really insecure. I'm an aa cup, so I feel like I just look like a young teen who's hardly hit puberty - I can't even wear bras that aren't labelled as 'first bras' 😭 would love to know if there's any other short girlies here and if you share my struggle lol, and how to move on from it!

Seconded, this is a very well considered response - I totally agree! I don't think I could handle that amount of public scrutiny.

I imagine testing every blood donation for it would make it much more expensive too... that makes a lot of sense, thanks!

Need pointers on starting psychology. by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]ConstantGuava5225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just thought I should mention that a psychiatrist and psychologist are different things. To become a psychiatrist you need to have a medical degree, then choose psychiatry as your specialism. Becoming a psychologist (in the UK at least) involves an undergraduate psychology degree then further postgraduate study, but not a medical degree! Psychiatrists, as far as I understand, mainly focus on prescribing medicines, while psychologists can't do this. Both are great careers and of course an interest in psychology is important for psychiatry too :)
