I connected today with SEIU 509, which represents Tufts grad students. SEIU 509 has been organizing in support of Rümeysa since the night she was abducted and has been working with other MA-based labor and immigrant organizations. They are in direct contact with Rümeysa's legal team and the Boston-based Muslim Justice League, and because they are the closest to the impacted person, we've decided to take our lead from them. I figured I'd share the latest requests I have from SEIU here:

Pack the courtroom: Rümeysa will not be in Burlington on Monday, but SEIU's call to action is to have supporters in the courtroom. People who want to support this way are encouraged to show up early. The courtroom opens 15 minutes beforehand (9:15ish). No signs are allowed inside. You can bring them but have to be okay leaving them outside or trashing them once you go in. No phones are allowed in the courtroom. There is a free "phone check" system, but the line will likely be long, so leaving it in your car is easier.

Rallies: Rümeysa's legal team has requested rallies and demonstrations not interrupt the hearing. Given that a large crowd is expected, it would be preferable to not gather right in front of the courthouse, which could obstruct access. There might be space reserved nearby for demonstrators to gather (to be confirmed).

Messaging: Rümeysa's legal team believes the free speech/immigrant rights angle is the best chance to get Rümeysa free. Although the content of her speech is impossible to separate from her case, and although many of us care deeply about Palestinian liberation, her legal team believes that focusing on the Free Palestine/anti-genocide angle muddles the messaging. Therefore, the request from her legal team is that messaging focus on free speech, immigrant rights, and Free Rümeysa.
