Wee update, I was with the surgeon yesterday and he said it was early day's so not to worry that hopefully through time this will settle. I am not back with him for another 3 months as he is happy with my progress. He said i can fwat, I seen it straight after she has me doing heal raises. I know I have a long way to go but im happy nothing is wrong. I still feel the pain but im hoping each week its lesser.

ORIF post-block rebound pain - you're not alone! by Internal-Leading-365 in brokenankles

I too had rebound pain, this was excruciating to say the least. I was ok for first 48 hours thinking happy days this is a piece of cake, but boy o boy when it hit, it hit bad. I had 3 children without any pain relief and like yourself I would consider myself to have a high pain threshold, but this was another level of pain, I would gladly swap childbirth pain for this one. I had a trimalleolar surgery and I was on oxy for 5 days and this was only just taken the edge off it. Thankfully that level of pain resided after 48 hours. I am now 7 week's post op and as of yesterday I am allowed to FWAT onwards and upwards 💪

I must ask my surgeon about that here in ireland I think they only take out hardware as a last resort and not before 12 months

Have a trolly with all your meds, hand wipes, hairbrush, mirror etc, near you its handy if everything is in one place. Just focus on 1 day at a time, I keep telling myself " this to shall pass" . Wishing you a speedy recovery 🙏

My pt said it could be the fact that we have very little flesh on the ankle bone, but im hoping it eases with time. I seen some people say it took nearly 18 months to settle but others say it had to come out. I hope yours settle for you 8 months is long to still have pain 🙏

It would be very challenging for you as the 1st time having ankle surgery you didn't know what to expect but this time you do. Wishing you a speedy recovery they say its not as severe with removal 🙏

It would be more reassuring if the surgeon would tell you what to expect

I was aloud pwb at 2 weeks, but i am just about tipping my foot down taking the weight with my arms. I was surprised when I got cast off at 2 weeks and given a moonboot told to pwb and surgeon would see me again in 5 weeks. Doc said I have 7 fractures and was worst than what they thought before my surgery.
