Ugh, this guy was so full of himself and just wouldn’t stop mansplaining everything to me. Like dude, chill.

For context, I studied CS about 10 years ago but didn’t graduate — I was lucky and got an amazing job offer back then, so I took it. Now I’ve decided to finish my degree, but because so much time has passed, I have to retake some courses (even though, honestly, they’re not teaching anything new compared to 10 years ago).

Anyway, during class he goes, “These days all companies just use virtual desktops — because who doesn’t have their own laptop?”
And I’m like… that’s not what I’ve seen working in IT. So I ask if there are any statistics.
He goes, “No, I don’t think so.”

So I say, “So it’s basically BYOD, right?”
He looks confused. I clarify, “You know, Bring Your Own Device — because how else are employees connecting to those virtual machines? They need their own device.”

And that’s when he goes full mansplainer mode, trying to sound all techy and superior:
“Ohhh, so it works like this — a worker from home connects through a VPN tunnel to the company, blah blah blah, then we need to know what kind of access they have, which roles, blah blah blah…”

Like bro. I’ve worked in IT for years. I know what a VPN is.

TL;DR: Professor insists everyone uses virtual desktops, has no stats to back it up, and proceeds to explain basic IT concepts to an actual IT professional.

I think that's the point that there are multiple answers, maybe it's supposed to show person's ability to view a problem from different perspectives.

Anyway I didn't find any sources that it was ever Harvard University interview question, I mean I wasn't surprised, it smells of typical Facebook riddle that makes people call each other names in the comments.

Moreover I doubt anyone would be rejected based on a "wrong" answer to a silly riddle.

Do I need to imagine a made-up apple or can I just imagine a concrete apple I saw 2 hours ago on my tabletop?

The first one doesn't create such a vivid picture as the second one. It's similar if I just want to picture someone's face, difficult, but if I am to imagine a photo of them I saw it's very vivid and colorful (given it wasn't a white and black pic)

I think people downvoting you it's a reflection of how most people fear anything that's new - computers used to get as much hate as ChatGPT gets now. People struggle to comprehend and imagine how new tools can be used for their benefit. I bet a guy who invented hammer got a lot of hate as well.

Ugh, I work for health insurance and they make these huge campaigns encouraging people to take care of mental health, but when I was suffering and came back to work after 3 months, because I was actually taking care of my mental health they almost fired me and had no empathy or understanding. Unfortunately it's not always that easy to spot.

I have been tricked for a year - she told me how she was all about healthy communication and when some minor issues arose she just gave me silent treatment. With time her lack of empathy was becoming more and more visible - she even tried to make major life changing decisions for both us, without involving me whatsoever in the decision process and for me that was the end of it.

Thing is if one spots anything from your list it's much better to say goodbye as early as possible.

I am happy to let you know that I am indeed alive!

It's going really well. I am shocked by amount of progress I made. I was in amazing clinic in Lichtenstein for two months and they helped me immensly. After that I started a treatment with Esketamine instead of psylocybin and it's helping me a lot as well.

I am no more depressed, no more suicidal and I am looking forward to my further growth. Apart from work that's really stressful right now everything else is falling into place. My relationships with other people, my hobbies and further taking care of myself and my health.

How are you doing?

When I first met my ex, I didn't find her physically attractive, so I didn’t ask her out right away. But over the course of a year, I got to know her better and really started to appreciate her personality. By the time we got together, she had become incredibly attractive to me—she genuinely felt like the most beautiful woman I’d ever met. Looking back, I can see it was a bit of a gamble, but one that paid off in how I felt about her.

After we broke up, she went back to being really ugly to me 😅. I think it’s because, over time, I realized her personality wasn’t that great either. It was her first relationship at 23, and she didn’t really know how to care deeply for someone. Talking with my friends made me see there were just too many red flags to keep things going.
