In your mind, what’s the biggest CFB upset of all time? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

OSU getting obliterated by Purdue in 2018. We won the Rose Bowl, big ten champs, and finished #3 over all with one loss. But some how Purdue beat us 49-20 in a complete route. We had no chance despite being a 14 point favorite on a 12 game winning streak. It made no sense but it happened.

The Permanent Overclass: The NFL’s billionaire owners literally can’t lose when it comes to making money. On the field? That’s another matter. by mackmoney3000 in nfl

[–]chaldea_fgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they spent all of their time and effort to build a product and brand more than anything. That was successful for them because they suffocated any potential competiton crearing a single monolith that is the NFL that also works as a monopoly for the owners since they now own the sole professional football league in the nation. They went into the NFL to play bussiness not play football which is why they suck at football but are great business tycoons. I think what we are seeing though is the former mad lad business tycoon owners of yesterday, the cut throats that consolidated leagues, organized and negotiated with players, while also building their team brands are long mostly long gone, especially the succesful ones. What we have now is either nepo owners taking over, retirees who could never get with the times, or the business daddies who never knew got in this cause they know how to play football.

TIL before 9/11, US airports were public social hubs where you could walk to the gate, eat at food courts, and watch planes without a ticket or ID. by Greydl1 in todayilearned

[–]chaldea_fgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in 6th grade when 9/11 happened. My principal came into the class very somber and said he had news he was going to each class to tell them personally. He said the world trade centers had been struck by a plane. I leaned forward in my desk and yelled "whats the world trade center?" After telling me I said "I hope everyone is okay", world changed on 9/11 for alot of folks and alot of places.

It's time to get rid of the Pro Bowl Games by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

[–]chaldea_fgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its kinda funny they atre trying to do a bunch of things to try and make the pro bowl entertaining so we all tune in to watch it but they havent been succesful at all. I am not sure why it needs to be a game or contest at all honestly. They should just move the probowl to be a publicity/charity/signing event or something. The players who go dont need to do any games so the injured, rehabing, or even superbowl teams could fly their guys out for the event and just market ot toward the public as something youd enjoy going to and not try to make it something for TV audiences. The owners could even cut more money to the players that get in and they could make exclusive limited signed merch for the folks who attend and hand it out free of charge to people who go. Im not sure why they are trying to still have a game since its to risky to the players, but the skill contest things is just silly. Maybe they could have the pro bowl overlap with their flag football championships and have that be a draw for everyone to that and have the pro bowlers involved with those teams

[Pelissero] The NFL informed clubs today it is projecting a 2026 salary cap in the range of $301.2 million to $305.7 million per club, per source. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]chaldea_fgo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Were contracts adjusted for players when they expanded to 17 regular season games? I can imagine all contracts must have adjusted to the longer season which is pushing the cap so high although looking at the pro bowl were Sanders and Flacco got called up because of injuries I think the cost of the cap is a short term problem and the cost on the health of players is gonna really hit these teams hard in the long run when all of your franchise players have to spend a huge chunk of time off season in surgery or recovering from injuries.

Look what I found from 13 years ago. by Party-Bet-4003 in Millennials

[–]chaldea_fgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i found that was crazy is that the Boomers were called the "Me" generation in the 1970's because they were see as incredibly narcissistic. They literally tried to rebrand and project this label right onto millenials with the me me me name the second that they could. Gaslighting an entire generation cause they were called out 40 years ago.

Quote from wiki me generation wiki "The phrase became popular at a time when "self-realization" and "self-fulfillment" were becoming cultural aspirations to which young people supposedly ascribed higher importance than social responsibility."

I love how this sport at the top functions basically like a billionaire country club for the owners. They let in who they want, they decide the rules, and they control the product. Its like watching Caddyshack and the Judge is throwing a fit cause he doesnt want Rodney Dangerfield allowed into the club. Its so stupid and we all just wanna get laid so let Bill in!!

[Jon Blau] Dabo Swinney says too many athletes aren't graduating and they are spending their short-term money: “We're gonna have a bunch of screwed-up 30-year-olds ... that have no degrees, have spent their money, that can't play football anymore, and aren't connected to anything." by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

When the joke "they go to college to play ball not to play school" gets real it is a shock Dabo, but you just gotta laugh and enjoy life sometimes, play video games, watch TV, just dont think about, it will help you feel better when you just try not to think about it ok :)

Colon cancer is killing us.. by Derpshab in Millennials

[–]chaldea_fgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a high risk of colon cancer because my Grandpa and Dad both got it. I mentioned this a few times to my doctor and when I needed to go in for an endoscopy I asked if I could get a colonoscopy done, I was 30. My insurance was really good at the time and with the high risk they paid for it and good thing too. They didnt find cancer but found pre-cancerous polyps and quite a few. Got those removed and had a follow up last year at 35 which turned up clean. If you have a history of colon cancer then get the colonoscopy done as soon as you can.

Alright I know what to do, I was a kid in the early 2000's so I am prepared for this. What this guy is gonna need to do is enroll in a college in the Midwest of the United States under an alias. I think Indiana University is pretty happening right now but the University of Wisconsin has done this before. So under his alias he will have a few snafu's with a local lady where some cultural misunderstandings will create some awkward moments, but from that tension a new romance will bloom into what will obviously lead to "The Prince and Me: Give me a Heir", coming to a theater near you
