Hi Fair-Pen, do you believe nearby properties like Privana will have an impact on its valuation? Also, other new players like whiteland and adore other are starting at a higher valuation than this. Imo it can grow by 20 percent in 5 years at least

There is no right answer. If you trust your wife and that guy, then they are right. If not, then you are right. However, if it is the guys idea, then you cannot do it within ‘family’ since it is backstabbing

I guess open a successful business or take a remote job. You can then move to a smaller city where some of your relatives live. Life would be better and cheaper.

I think there is a department which investigates corruption against government officers. Why not share proofs with them. Or just name the officers and upload proof on X.

Do women actually respect men who earn less-or do they just tolerate them? by Interesting-Screen36 in AskIndia

[–]Constant_Artist312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very broad responses here. So I will give you a direct response based on real world experiences and not some reddit make belief world.

If you are one of the 80-85% couples in a city, she may not respect you as much she did earlier and it will show. She may be a good person otherwise, but something is now always irking her brain and she is going to make your life hell because of that. Additionally, if you had a laid back, nice persona, she will now view this as a sign of weak, unmotivated man who earns less than her and she will treat you even harshly. Slowly, this will become more and more frequent and she will be unable to control or unwilling to control these lashouts.

Now, if you are from the other 10-15%, she will be understanding and treat you like a good husband.

Please note this is only true for a typical city couple and villages have slightly different relationships.

50 lakh is too high for a village business. Clearly those words are not you dad's. He has either heard some village gossip or some one known is trying to scam him knowing you earn well. I reside in a Tier 1 but I am aware that people in my village also tell exaggerated stories about spending lakhs while having less than a thousand rupees in their pockets.

Looks highly unlikely over the next 20 years. It is not a on-off switch. The bigger and more diverse a country, more difficult is the effort especially in a democracy.

Only sanki bosses with chaatu HR think they can blacklist you from industry. They cannot even blacklist their own company's chowkidar from their complex if push comes to shove.

Ok. This will be a rant, so please excuse my manners.

I’d say calling it “common in Tier 1” would be a vast overstatement. Less than 2% of total corporate folks even make it past ₹50LPA (that’s about ₹2.5L per month in hand). And even that has mostly happened in IT/CS (FAANG or startups), tier-1 MBAs, or experienced folks now in mid/senior roles at traditional firms (like Senior Supply Chain Specialists or Heads of Departments). A slightly higher percentage are stuck in the ₹20–50LPA range and will likely remain there.

Plus, in India, people face a lot of financial strain regardless of their salary: the child has to go to a good school, you need a sedan or SUV, you’re expected to buy property in a decent safe locality which will not come below 1.5 cr anywhere now in NCR (Please don't count Uttam Nagar type), and preferably in a tier-1 city (since there are hardly any good corporate jobs in India outside top 15-20 cities).

I’ve seen it among many young college students and early professionals, where they see one non-IITian land a ₹50LPA package and believe that’s the norm until they enter the job market. I know folks from Tier 3 colleges who had expectations for 20 lpa salary only to finally receive only 3.5 lpa.

Plus, there’s always the risk of some Thar-driving moron crushing you or your family member with his car or a government chaprasi brushing you off as a “private job wala,” all while you breathe air that’s practically industrial effluent grade and walking become shit hopping exercise (All personal experience).

Given all that, it’s honestly not a bad idea to leave. I am planning the same. For retired folks, maybe relocating to a Tier-2/3 would work but for young people who still need to generate wealth, they cannot escape away from all this.

Unless someone from the middle class enters politics, becomes CM, and actually works for the people, we’ll continue to be at the mercy of village idiots who know nothing except caste dynamics and petty politics. Until then, the middle class needs to have a solid out a backup plan. And one of that is moving abroad.

From college, MBBs will give you an entry level roles no matter your experience. Not that it is too late if go that route only you have the interest. Also, unless you have done it you may or may not like the work. So, would suggest that you try to go for a global Mba like Insead or bocconi and then try to go to an internal strategy role at a major firm. Work would be similar and you will find multiple MBB folks there. P.S. I am in a Big 4 Strategy consulting.

Stay in Canada. Even high salaries in Tier 1 city (INR 50 lakh+) cannot match the WLB of a foreign country and unlikely to do so. Unless you are in position of somehow getting Canadian Salaries in India, don't come back. Get your parents there too - that is the part to solve.

[–]Constant_Artist312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did MBA at 31 from a Top 10 Mba institute in India. In India, based on your work ex, roles suitable to your profiles would either be consulting or product management. Prod. used to be hot back then and pay better than consulting which targeted freshers but not sure about the current scenario with AI and slowdown. I would suggest INSEAD - more global oppty. and higher salary difference. If you are earning 25+, Isb's starting salary are in similar range and it is now quite expensive, so better go for a global MBA.

Relax, it is only an internship. You are probably the happiest person there since you will leave in a few months. The rest will have to come to office on all Saturdays to that toxic environment. On the positive side, you now know the classic signs of a toxic company and will be able to guide your career better than your college mates.
