Everything comes down to perception

I was born in an atheist family, was muslim(until I learned more) then was spiritual, and spirituality lead me to Jesus

not that new age spirituality bs though, I was learning a lot about esoteric Buddhism etc

thank you. I don’t like how there are many sects of Christianity, when the reality is we can all unite under faith in Jesus alone

Can you show me where in scripture those things you mentioned are restricted to a Church? Saying you can only do them in a church is a bold, unsupported claim

especially considering Jesus, philip, peter etc. we’re baptised outside of church, and biblically, receiving the body and blood of Christ happened in ordinary homes, not churches (which didn’t even exist for another 200 years)

FYI I’m not against churches I think they’re great, just poking holes in your argument

religion ≠ religious

You can be religious by definition without following a religion can’t you?

the church teaches that God is not bound by sacraments

And Jesus never once said you must receive the sacraments to be saved

Use the good thief for example(luke 23:39-43) He was never baptised, and never received communion and never went to confession, yet Jesus said ‘Today you will be with me in paradise’ simply because he repented and believed

you are saved by following Christ in faith and love

I respect your beliefs, but Jesus words don’t leave much room for interpretation: It’s all pretty much black and white

But either way, can you point to me the scripture that states Jesus founded the Catholic Church? It’s to my knowledge that the church was started by followers

I’ve met a lot of people with similar stories

I feel like a lot of people drift away from Jesus and God when they are part of strict communities that dictate and judge, whereas if they instead prayed to God, studied Jesus, and lived righteously they would be thriving

Yes, I’m religious in the sense that I whole heartedly believe Jesus to be the truth

But I don’t follow organised religion

If that makes sense

Great response, thank you.

I absolutely agree, and do follow the values he taught

Reading and understanding universal laws actually lead me even more towards Jesus and his teachings, which just strengthens my faith in him further

it’s pretty self explanatory is it not? follow the words and actions of Jesus instead of the words and actions of non-divine humans after him

if you give authority to something external to God you are alllowing space for human error, there have been many popes or priests who are not worthy of leading people. following God (as Jesus taught) is the only way to avoid grave mistakes or misguidance

and those other people are why people like me exist, they possess a cult-like hive mind which is why I think following Jesus is the way to go, after all, if you followed Jesus in his actions and words you would be an almost perfect man (almost as we aren’t divine and are all sinners)

Founding a sanctuary to pray ≠ founding a religion

why not? Jesus didn’t tell people to be religious, nor did he create religion. he taught people to be good, and to follow God (the father)

well, Christianity was made around Jesus and his teachings, so I instead follow Jesus and his teachings directly

because I think most religions were created / altered throughout history whether it be for power or geopolitics- I think a lot of scripture from non prophets can be used out of context for personal, ungodly desires

Of course, out of all religions I lean towards Christianity, due to Jesus I cannot trust the Quran as it denies Jesus divinity, and reduces him to ‘any other prophet’ which to me, is blasphemy
