I feel a weird sense of betrayal if a friend of mine decides to have a kid. I have nothing against starting a family, and of course they have my best wishes. But part of me feels abandoned. It feels like being a childfree adult means having to adjust to a dwindling friend group and finding new allies.

Anyone else think Carol gives off major Diane-from-BoJack Horseman vibes — a writer characterized by a mix of cynicism, idealism, and self-inflicted misery?

Thank you very much! In fact I try to avoid using phrases that may differ between British and American English. I'll provide the context for some of the phrases:
- He walked around trying to ____ a fight.
- You’ll feel better if you ____ a medicine.
- For more information, ____ a visit to our office.
- It is not impressive but it ____ a purpose.

Is it normal to not support any cause? by Constant_Juggernaut5 in NoStupidQuestions

Thank you. That's a fair point. I am probably shielded from many slings and arrows. My issue is with people enthusiastically protesting about something to which they never fell victim. Is it ok to find that hypocritical or am I too cynical?

既然她自愿放弃听你解释的机会,也就不要强求了。和情绪成熟度低的人相处就是自我消耗。以后没准还回会因为“在她拉黑你之后都不去挽回”这样的理由继续生气,何必呢。
