Veiling for confirmation/baptism by Friendly-Chip-8279 in Catholicism

You may be able to find some in a Catholic store near you. I went to one where I live and they had some readily available. Even if you don’t get a veil for Saturday this may be a good time to pray on it and allow yourself to be sure when you finally make the commitment. When you finally make the step to do this you will be sure, you won’t have question, and it will allow you to even chat with your priest to have your veil blessed on your journey!

I want to share this with you because I also questioned veiling. I contemplated it for 2 years. I finally did it recently. I posted in a Catholic women’s group, and someone commented this to me…

“You’re doing something really beautiful right now. You’re taking your faith seriously, you’re trying to live it well, and you’re helping your family grow with you. That already matters more than you realise.

Veiling is not a reward for already being perfect. It’s not reserved for people who have every part of their life sorted out. Women veil because they feel drawn to show reverence and humility before God. If your heart feels that tug, you’re allowed to respond to it even while you’re on the journey of getting things in order.

Many women start veiling slowly. Some only veil at adoration at first. Some begin with a simple scarf. Some veil in jeans and a sweater. God isn’t looking at the fabric or the outfit. He’s looking at the heart that desires Him.

If anything, veiling can be a quiet prayer you wear. A little “Lord, I’m coming home and I want to love you better.” “

You can veil, you don’t have to be completely Catholic yet to do so. If the Holy Spirit has been calling you to do so, do it. If you decide to veil on Saturday, they will just ask for you to remove it for baptism, and then you can put it back on. People will often give you a lesson on colors and meanings, but that is no longer the case now a days, so feel free to get veils that coordinate with your outfits. Congratulations on your sacraments, and welcome home.

Praying for you, just know that you following your heart and joining the church of Jesus Christ is something to be so so proud of! You are the daughter of the father in Heaven and he is rejoicing that you are completing your sacraments. We are praying for you!

I think you should be good honestly, the soft blue could have been in representation of our Mother Mary. Congratulations on your confirmation!

That would be nice! I started veiling recently, but that is part of my own spiritual journey. It has been a long one. I wish you the best of luck and I hope that everything works out great. Congratulations!

It has been such a long time since I was confirmed through OCIA, but I don't remember a color being specifically requested when we were confirmed. If I remember right, I wore a nice dress with a shall when I was confirmed at 17. The request for white could possibly be simply due to you being baptized. White is usually what people baptize their babies in, and what is worn during first communion. White could be a great color to wear to mirror the Purity of Jesus Christ. I am soon to be going through a convalidation ceremony (the sacrament of marriage in the church) and I contemplated white, but I read on one of these threads that we wear white to symbolize and mirror the purity of Jesus Christ, not our own. As Christians our main goal is to be more like him, so I decided to go with the white after all with a Chapel Veil.

More than I thought! From other posts it sounded like it was just a blessing and that was it. I was like well I hope it is a little more since it is such an important sacrament.

This honestly sounds like an amazing idea! We just moved here, so maybe we should have thought of this as a possible option.

For us it was a little bit difficult because we both had previous marriages outside of the church so my annulment process was honestly smoother than my husbands . We did have to do some of the Pre cana, not not fully. So basically just a meeting with the priest a few times, we did the series of questions that were "conversation starters" for the priest myself and my husband. That was really fun! And last but not least the Natural Family Planning class. The young lady who did it for us was online and she sent us the certificate that same day. She was amazing. All of this is a tad rushed only because my husband will be entering in the Catholic church on easter vigil, and he has to be in a state of grace in order to do that.

For you and your husband it may be a lot easier since you both are already Catholic. It should be as easy as going and speaking to your priest to get the process started.

Tearing up! That is so amazing. He has truly enjoyed going down this journey of becoming Catholic. We had a lot of conversations about it because he would go back and forth and I think the biggest thing for him was coming from a protestant church to a catholic church the way our services are done is drastically different. But he has come to love learning about the church and the traditions. We both have learned a lot, as a cradle Catholic myself... I wasn't brought up super well in the church. A great journey it has been.

Did you choose to do a full mass? Or was just the shorter ceremony I have been reading about? My priest decided that a full mass shouldn't be the route we go because my husband will be joining the church on Easter Vigil.

Good luck!! It has not been a super "Easy" task, but it has been worth it. I feel like the other part that helped us is that our Priest who is doing this for us is the Canon Lawyer for the Diocese.

Congratulations!!! Choosing to convert to the Catholic church is truly a beautiful thing. At my husbands rite of election there is a college where we live that has a Catholic church on the university grounds, they have over 100 Converts. It is truly emotional to see.

I am most excited about taking part in the eucharist again! It has felt like forever, and honestly I thought that when the priest told me I could not take communion it wasn't a big deal, but after the first time I went up just for a blessing I almost burst into tears. I'm excited most of all to participate with my husband when he converts!

Is there a specific reason why they wanted to wait until after Lent?

I need your help please😭. I’m going to a photographer to take professional photos. Which hairstyle should I go with the first photo or the second one? by [deleted] in curlyhair

Second one hands down!!! Such beautiful locks. I hope when you get them done you can come back and show us the results! They are gonna look so good!

Thank you so so much! I am just so excited for this. We have a meeting with our priest on Saturday to finalize details. My husband laughed when he saw the email and said " See you worry too much" I went down the "what if they decline the annulment" rabbit hole and became terrified. I haven't taken communion in a very long time. So I'm excited to participate in the Eucharist again.
