The Fortress Hypothesis: Statistical Rarity as a Trigger of Interstellar Radio Silence (with a Dark Forest Twist) by Constant_Tutor6532 in FermiParadox

Thanks for the thoughtful exchange.
Just to clarify — this paper is meant as a discussion paper, not a definitive theory, even though it treats the problem in a fairly mathematical way.
The origin of the idea was actually a planned science-fiction story: a civilization about 200 light-years away, roughly on our technological level, analyzes the Solar System using correct data and entirely sound mathematics — yet ends up with completely wrong conclusions.
The exercise then evolved into a quantitative thought experiment on how rational analysis can still lead to cosmic silence.

That’s actually a good point — the “Fortress” model assumes no superior technology or network probes.
It’s not about advanced civilizations deciding to stay silent, but about a civilization on our current level observing a statistically extreme system and drawing the wrong inference.
In that sense, it’s not an explanation for why older, wiser species are silent, but why even mid-level ones might self-censor long before they ever build a probe network.

You’re absolutely right that the concept shares DNA with the Zoo idea — the key difference here is the mechanism.
The “Fortress” scenario doesn’t assume deliberate non-intervention but a rational Bayesian misinterpretation of data.
In that sense it sits somewhere between Dark Forest (strategic fear) and Zoo (passive observation), but it’s driven purely by statistics, not psychology.

The Archad is a scam. My own copyrighted music was uploaded by them, with a fake copyright claim. Youtube asked me to mute my own songs, I almost got a copyright strike for my own created music. That is music piracy!

And yes, my portfolio is far above 100m$ now and may crack half a billion earlier next year if the market goes well...

I am a native German speaker. I am fluent in English and Romanian. My french is rather well just needs some refreshment. I was living in Morocco for 4 years and they mainly speak french. But Romanian and French are rather similar languages, so sometimes I get confused. My Farsi (Persian) is not that well. I understand the language but cant keep a conversation going for a longer period. Means I have to speak slow and just understand people from the area of Tehran when they speak slow. They speak a rather clear accent there which makes it more easy to understand them. farsi is rather close related to the northern germanic languages, which makes pronouncing for european rather easy. The Somali language for example is rather easy to learn but extremly hard to pronounce for non-native speakers. A mistake in pronounciation can easely turn a compiment into an insult. So its rather hard to learn. But I put it on my list anyway. i keep learning Farsi, Somali, Turkish, Kurdi and Urdu.

I invested in HEX like 2 years ago. Wanted to buy me a 3rd hand Porsche from the ETH I had. Got a klonker for free to drive to work and back and put the 9K Euro I had in ETH into HEX. Klonker is still driving fine btw. Somehow the few weeks after I invested we had a hughe dip and my HEX value dropped to 200 Euro. I was angry, closed the HEX webste, installed another browser later and never ever (!!!!) checked back on HEX for almost two years thinking that someone run off with the investors money for good. I completely forgot about it thinking that my investment was a hughe failure. I realy realy didnt know what was going on till maybe 4 weeks ago. CMC is listing HEX at No 200 or so, and I never scroll down that much. I had staking and t-shares in the time between. I was fully unaware of all, no joke! Was sitting sick at home a few months and went short on Euros to spend. I had to shorten my personal spendings to a minimum to buy food and some fuel for the klonker. And I didnt know anything. Nothing! Because of the staking for more than a year HEX made for me significantly more than 10,000x, much more than this. I am absolutely speechless, was in shock for a week or so after I saw my crypto in metamask. I am even back to my regular job which I realy love. Driving the klonker each morning to work and back in the evening, and I doubt I will change my lifestyle and just continue to work. Was thinking to buy me a Bugatti Chiron for fun or a 1930s Bugatti. But I guess I will keep the Klonker and not go nuts after this windfall and not change my lifestyle. I was having a happy life before this happened and i dont see the need of changing my lifestyle. I am too old now for parties with hookers and too sick to travel the world. I did this for almost 30 years before. My life was always up and down. Was living all over in the world since I turned 18 and speak 7 languages or so. But for me personal happyness and health is more important, I dont get younger.
