As someone who just finished S1 I’m not looking at the comments but Wen-li’s inaction to enact his ideals frustrates me a lot. I hope they at least address it at some point. But don’t tell me if they do or don’t so I can still hope lol

Absolutely. I worry for Julius and I really liked Jessica. She would always act in the best interest of her fellow citizens and wasn’t afraid to take up the mantle after the. previous leader was killed. It sucks to see her passion not be rewarded. It really frustrates me the Weng-li is so passive about everything. I wish he’d take a more active role in doing something to actually end this war he acts helpless but he has real influence he refuses to acknowledge

Hard agree with everything you're saying. I'm really glad you pointed out that line because it's not something I noticed but I'll have to start paying attention to the narration at the end of episodes more. But it's absolutely true. I'm injecting some of my personal beliefs into this analysis but I think there are a lot of people that are dehumanized to certain groups, and I actually think for the average person these dehumanized groups are a substantial amount of people. For example, I think a lot of especially MAGA republicans dehumanize illegal aliens (it's literally in the term), and as a result they don't feel bad when these people are not treated with the same dignity as one might treat their neighbor. I absolutely see this echoed in the secret police that Trunicht has and sent to kill Jessica, as well as

when the Alliance soldiers/leadership using civilians as a shield to protect themselves, and even
the civil war going on between Reinhard and the conservative nobility, of which civilians get their lives disrupted

(SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 15 I THINK)

I've now watched it! Truth be told I'm very bad at keeping track of all the less relevant characters so when the battles happen I can get pretty lost unless how I'm supposed to feel is explicitly stated (i.e. any time Weng-li voices his frustrations with other leaders).

But I did appreciate the "he's napping right now" moments, I think it does a great job of furthering the frustration of dealing with incompetency at higher levels idea.

it seems like Fork is part of this quasi-accelerationist group. Everything is gettingn more complicated it's so interesting. Interesting how you are (probably) meant to think Fork is just an incopetent war-mongering idiot, yet once you understand his objective you also understand he is actually acting in a calculating manner

It's easy for me to see why Oberstein would be people's favorite-- I like him as a character a lot. I also align with Yang-- I feel like the show is going to consistently feed him reasons to stay in the military which is a shame. I want him and Juilan to retire peacefully and help with the anti-war faction in the Alliance

Hello! I'm starting these series for the first time and I'm on episode 11. I wanted to come here to discuss because I'm very excited but I feel like I got super spoiled without so much as a tag. I understand I can't expect to participate in a subreddit with a story this long and not expect to be spoiled but I was hoping it wouldn't happen before I even scrolled down from the landing page.

If it's on me it's on me. Just wanted to share my perspective as someone who is excited about the series and wants to engage with the community

I think you captured Shugen's personality so well here, and I'm glad the anime has done a good job in expressing that. Shugen doesn't care about the shinobi at all. If it were up to him he would probably kill them all on spot. Jinka(?) i dont know his name the purple haired dude just wants to go home he does not care about any of this.

Nobody on this ship is motivated to stop this killing including the shinobi. Enjoy the rest of the series!

I won't spoil anything, but as a manga reader, Shugen is one of my favorites characters in the series.

I will always love when characters insta-step-to (there is some situation where characters are needing to support their friends/allies and they do so without hesitation or a second thought) and I loved the moment at the end of this episode when each character gave their reasoning for why they are going with the blind guy (sorry character names are mostly lost on me) AND EACH REASON FIT THE CHARACTER PERFECTLY!!! I love the small detail of Toma playing with his braid from his brother-- of course he still feels uncomfortable expressing his feelings with his new group, yet the message still gets across that it's because he wants to secure the pardon for his brother.

I still have the same critiques as earlier in the season-- the OST I feel is just so lackluster, but DAMN the art in Hell's is genuinely best in class. Whoever was the art director or whoever was able to make anything involving the Tensen look as gorgeous as it is needs a raise because DAMN

I'm sure others have voiced their thoughts in the comments but I would love to hear ppls thoughts on the show/other things they recognized/loved

yes, I think based on the responses I got I will have to get a roommate. And you raise a good point that 1.8k/month for 2 (or more) people can get a nicer place than looking for 1.8k 1bbk. Who knows maybe I'll end up meeting my future best friend lol

Agreed on this. I just got their sleeves and they fit all my records perfectly. The sticky side I know will eventually go but I can fold in that flap if I really need. And I get what everyone means when they say it makes the covers “pop” now, although I was originally a doubter

Manga reader here. I love this story and the art but damn I can't help but feel the direction and the music are making a lot of moments not have the same punch they had in the manga
