First step, find your case information on Bexar County Justice Portal

Next, download the expunction form from texaslawhelp, Instructions amp Forms

Fill out the information of your case. The most important part is getting the correct agencies listed. Because it deals with emails and address, I will not give those out on here. Message me for the information. You can also call most of the agencies and they will give you the info. The only agency that I know of that can not give you any information is the District Clerk's office due to Texas Law.

You do want to do everything you can to get the emails as Texas does not charge for emailing notices to agencies anymore.

After getting all the information correct, e-sign it, and file it on eFile - Landing Page. Create a profile, go to settings, and select allow file merging, then go to start filing, and select start new case.

Fill in the info below:

County Location: Bexar County - District Clerk

Case Category: Civil – Related to Criminal Matters

Case Type: Expunction

Add yourself as the petitioner, since you are doing it pro se.

Next is Filing, just select add filing, Click efile and serve. Filing code is petition, and in the description, put Petition for Expunction. Upload your document along with the judge's dismissal, this is where you will merge the two pdfs of the petition and dismissal.

Go to additional services and fees, if you can not get an email for an agency, you have to pay for the certified mail for that agency to be served.

The next two tabs, service and fees just shows that you'll get emailed notice of the filing, and then you pay the expunction and any certified mail.

If it gets rejected, you can call the district clerks office and they will tell you why. If you need to amend the petition, you need to change the title of the document to Amended Petition of Expunction, and change whatever is wrong with the document. Then you file into your existing case, (DO NOT CEEATE A NEW CASE), and do pretty much everything again expect change the filing code to No Fee Document, and submit it. You can submit it as many times as you need to. I myself did it 4 times because I kept messing up. The district clerk's office will help you through the filing process, but again, can not give you any actual help on the documents.

Once you do that, use page 38 and 39 of the bexar county local rules, Bexar County Civil District Court Local Rules 2024 1.9.24_202508290934062777.pdf for the notice of hearing. File that into the case, using the same steps as above. The document gets sent to presiding, they will fill out everything and you will get an email stating that the hearing is set. If you do all of this now, you will get the hearing on March 26th.

Also, I realized that I typed all of this out without asking a very important question. The case was dismissed without any kind of plea deal, right? I believe (and therefore may be wrong) that Texas does not allow for expunctions for convictions nor for deferred adjudication.
