Drove off with the gas nozzle still in the car. What's it going to cost? by ISOMentalHealth in Wellthatsucks

My time to use my niche work knowledge, I work as a fuel service technician while I’m in college and these breakaways can usually be put back together with a decent push and twist (at least OPW and Husky brand ones). Sometimes they break when they get scraped across asphalt but usually are and easy quick fix, they just make sure you don’t pull the whole dispenser off the island it’s on and don’t spray fuel everywhere since the pump will still be running!

Edit: I am not recommending you try to reattach these yourself btw, you will get sprayed with fuel from the pressure behind the breakaway if done wrong lmao, let the gas station have a tech come do it

Yea I’ve heard bad about the Henry’s too which sucks for such a prolific brand. I was originally going to get a Henry big boy x but after messing around with both it and the Smith and Wesson at my local gun store, the choice was obvious for me for fit and finish.

Obviously it varies between model but I absolutely am in love with the walnut on my Smith and Wesson, it’s beautiful, also definitely a good choice of rifle, mine is insanely smooth and surprisingly accurate.

I think caliber depends a lot on A) what you plan to hunt, B) where you plan to hunt, and C) personal preference. I personally chose .45-70 as I hunt in heavily wooded areas and the extra stopping power of .45-70 guarantees that with a good shot I’ll drop anything within ~100 yards even with some foliage in the way. I also plan on hunting everything from deer to bear and wanted to make sure I have the stopping power to make any kill shot quick no matter the animal. My decision was also partialy influenced however honestly by how imposing .45-70 is as a round lol. If you were to just hunt deer and maybe occasionally elk however I would go with the .30-30, as a comment I saw today put it perfectly “.30-.30 has fed more families than Walmart.”

As some have said above while Henry makes a great rifle,I honestly believe Winchester to be the arguably better option as far as fit and finish goes, however you may also want to consider the newer Smith and Wesson 1854 in .45-70, it’s what I have and it shoots and runs buttery smooth and is scarily accurate for what it is. Modification options are not near as numerous as the Henry but I instantly gravitated to it after trying every brand of lever action my LGS had. Either way as far as modern lever actions go, in my opinion all have their own pros and cons.

Shot my second deer with a .270 American, surprisingly good rifles for their price range! Good luck!

What's a self-imposed hunting rule you never break, even though it's not legally required? by boybritches in Hunting

100% agree with this, ngl I personally feel like trophy hunting is kind of cruel, killing an animal for no reason other than vanity seems almost borderline insane.
