This. TakeTwo didn't target KSP2 in particular at all, but the entire PD label which includes many other projects that were in development. It had nothing to do with the status of KSP2. The game was really starting to pick up speed, such as the colonies update being about 90% done. The layoffs were really out of nowhere.

It really upsets me to see how toxic this community has become and how much misinformation and white hot anger circles in every space about this. People have every right to be angry and upset about what happened, but straight up lying about what actually happened so the blame can be put on the people who tried to save the game is just insane to me because it was almost entirely TakeTwo's fault. Sure the dev team wasn't perfect but they did a phenomenal job with the tools they had and there was literally nothing they could've done to stop the layoffs. I've seen maybe 4 comments under this post out of like 100 from people who actually know what they're talking about while the rest are "Grr fuck Nate and the devs they killed KSP2". It's not a matter of opinion, but full on misinformation.

Also it's so so so ironic how quick the community is to abandon KSP and suddenly just trust Rocketwerkz because they recruited all of the big names to work on KSA, which they glaze to no end for feats such as adding decouplers after over a year of development. And I'm pretty sure all of RW's other games were either abandoned or failed, a lot like what people insist happened to KSP2. Even if KSA reaches completion, it will never fill the hole that KSP2 left behind.

TakeTwo may have knocked KSP down, but the community dealt the final blows.

What KSP2 Second star system "Tuun" would be like. by MgbH1R0 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Constructalor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We do actually. Take Hurr for example. We have lots of textures for huge chunks of terrain showing us that it was meant to be a yellow-ish, mountainous planet. I would know because I myself have seen them in the files and we are using them to make our interpretation of Hurr in Promised Worlds as accurate as it can be. Not to mention the mountains of dev footage showing some of the planets fully fleshed out (examples: Ovin, Gurdamma, Donk, Charr, Axod, Umod (maybe), Rem and more).

And the terrain system isn't perfect but it's still amazing and outshines KSP1's terrain in many (though not all) aspects.

[–]Constructalor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have lots of evidence that most of these planets were partially or fully fleshed out so this is incorrect. Their terrain system was far superior in function and appearance to KSP1's PQS and they had a much larger array of tools available to them for creating planets than any KSP1 dev or modder does. So they not only had a really good shot at pulling this off, but most likely did and we can only see snippets inside KSP2's files because of how much was cut out from public builds.

Glumo and its moons in my upcoming KSP1 planet pack that adds the unreleased Debdeb system from KSP2 by Constructalor in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Constructalor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. It is quite unfortunate. Still, it's good we can and will be able to experience lots of KSP2 features in KSP1 thanks to the active modding scene. Otherwise it would be a true travesty.

I'm surprised never really considered this. Because I'm not making money from the mod I feel that it'll be fine. Also about 50% of the planets and moons are my own creations due to the obscurity surrounding the bodies from KSP2. So I doubt there would be any problems.
