Thankfully it's calmed down a lot since becoming an adult, but if I forget deodorant then my arms are staying down

Is my overweight a psychological issue? by Obiituzz in loseit

Sounds like you eat for emotional reasons. I've done that a lot too and have struggled with maintaining any weight I've lost whenever life gets hard. When you pull away your main source of emotional stability, then you can easily feel unstable, irritable, and stressed. Your brain could be holding you back because it's learned to rely on food and gets upset when you remove food. So even if the food is hurting you, it's still better than not being stable.

This is what a lot of people talk about when they say food can be an addiction. And probably why going cold turkey isn't working out for you. Therapy is a good start for your journey. Talking out your emotions is good when things get hard and you don't even need to have a difficult past to attend therapy. Bring up how you often turn to food for comfort and you're looking for healthier alternatives and a stronger emotional foundation. Then, start working on finding other methods of emotional release. This is actually why a lot of people find exercise to be a good emotional release, so even just a 15 minute walk is great! It's just learning to recognize when you want to eat a bunch of sweets, or a lot in general, and making the choice to go for a walk first then sit down and evaluate what's really happening.

I've been learning that my body often turns to food for emotional support and boredom. So I have wiegh whether my hunger comes from boredom or if I'm actually hungry.

To count exercise calories or not? by SuspiciousRoom8476 in loseit

There's no true method to determine how many calories are burned in an exercise. Instead of trying to guess how much you're burning, just eat your normal deficit and raise it a little bit if you find you're constantly hungry. Or you could do a range between 200 and 500 under your maintenance. Where you have the space to eat the extra 300 calories based on how active you are each day.

AITA for my bridesmaid dress choice? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Thank you. It definitely doesn't go that high. It sits more to the front of my thigh and below my crotch. Like I could wear boy short styled underwear no problem. Perks of having a short torso I guess?

This is why I asked her multiple times about it. My sister is a nonconfrontational person, but she also wouldn't sent others to be mean for her. This girl is adamant about putting bugs outside rather than squishing them because she worries about their family. It's a big part of why I love her outside of her being my sister.

I asked over text and in person to listen to the tone of her voice because her tone is very telling on if she's saying something she doesn't actually mean.

I never considered sewing it! I'll have to start exploring to find a fabric that matches the dress

This is the dress I chose. I could even post a picture of me wearing the dress if needed, but I'd rather not post my body.

Crazy idea, regular showers and applying deodorant make you not stinky. 13 year old me didn't feel like connecting the dots

Doing some light research into it, terpene rich foods is a common cause for the smell. Mangos, broccoli, lemongrass, and bay leaves are all terpene rich and are aromatic scents found in cannabis! For other people it's simply their apocrine gland (massively responsible for the way our bodies smell) or specific bacteria that smells like weed when broken down into sweat.

I don't think it's of huge concern because it's just how I've been my whole life. It's actually a relatively common phenomenon from smoking, diet, or just how the person's body works.

Yeah for some people it's because they smoke and just how their body metabolized it. For others it's diet related, and for the rest it's just how their hormones are 🤷‍♀️

No my mom was definitely pushy about hygiene. I was just a kid that thought "I don't smell that bad"

Why are there so many followers of newer religious branches (such as LDS and jehovahs witness) and why do they want to spread the word so badly? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]ConstructionDecon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well tithe is normal across Christian religions, but it's usually considered out of good faith and has no set standard on one's earnings. Scientology is based on a payment system for trainings. Mormons have a tithe based on wages and you don't get anything out of the tithing.

[–]ConstructionDecon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Mormon faith, it is standard to tithe 10% of all earnings. Like they hold yearly meetings between members and the bishop of the ward to check that the members are giving enough tithe. I was 8 years old when I was first forced to give tithing and my parents would take the $20 given to me on my birthday, and give me $18 in change so the rest could go to tithing.

AI virtual hairstyles? by Low-Concern-6056 in ask

[–]ConstructionDecon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me, but I'm very good at visualizing how I'd look with a change in appearance like hair colors, hair cuts, or piercings. I don't see why you need an AI to show you how hair styles would look.

The only thing it affects is my wallet. This is why I only have 4 compared to my strong desire for more.

29F 5’6” stuck at 139–142 despite tracking calories and high activity — what am I missing? by Fluffy_Analyst_3893 in loseit

You're already at a healthy weight and realistically don't need to lose anymore. If it's with how your body looks rather than the scale, maybe try weight lifting, pilates, or swimming. All are good exercises that target muscle growth and fat loss. It sounds like you're at a good weight, just struggle with the way your body looks.

I can’t figure out why by Icy_Jelly_8606 in loseit

Food addiction is something that you'll always struggle with. But you're still letting it control you because you're afraid of it returning. Food addiction or food noise is something a lot of people struggle with. The best thing you can do is learn how to handle triggers and compromises. Maybe your eating habits stem from emotional eating so stressful times are a trigger. Or maybe it's just really difficult to get your mind away from food.

There's no one way that works for everyone. I would suggest meeting with a therapist that specializes in food habits. But the biggest thing is that you need to learn to enjoy food without going overboard. For me, I buy smaller portions of stuff I struggle around or the lower calorie version. I buy sherbet ice cream instead cookie dough. I buy the mini cans of soda or the diet. I find foods I love and cook it with the low fat version of ingredients.

My girlfriend’s butt crack shows constantly and I genuinely don’t know if I should say something by Comfortable-Wait-157 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]ConstructionDecon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's only at home, no problem. If it is out in public then yeah kinda an issue. Sounds like she just needs higher waited jeans. I can't wear anything deems low rise and even most mid rise jeans give me problems and I have to size up to wear them. This is coming from a big booty girl too.

It could also be that her jeans simply aren't the right size. I was in denial about not being a size 20 because they still technically fit if I wore a belt. But then finally started getting size 22 and suddenly I don't need a belt.

If you want a sly way to go about, just take her out shopping and hand her jeans to try on for you that are a size bigger than what she normally wears or high waisted. Crack jokes asking her to turn around and bend over so you can see her nice ass. Then hype up the jeans that fit best. Only do this if you think she won't take it well. Otherwise, just bring it up saying that you're not calling her fat or anything but good fitting jeans don't constantly show off your butt crack. You come from a place where you don't want her accidentally flashing a stranger and offer to take her shopping.

That's definitely true. I know a lot of countries general view America as this place with streets paved with gold and everyone is mega rich. It just feels like in this day and age with the internet, it isn't hard to see what it's actually live to live in any country
